They arrived at the church. But the ceremony hasn't started yet. Ivan was nowhere to be found.
"Nasaan na si Ivan?" Devon asked her parents na kasama nya sa sasakyan. "Wala pa raw si Ivan..." sabi ng ina nya. Lauren knocked on the window of Devon's bridal car. "Wala si Ivan. Maybe he's having cold feet," Lauren said. Devon was in the verge of tears. Devon dialed Ivan's number.
"Hello," Ivan answered his phone. "Ivan, where are you? The ceremony is about to start," Devon said softly, but panic can be heard from her voice. "I'm at the airport," Ivan said calmly. "WHAT!? The airport!!??" Devon said. "Yes, the airport. I have business to attend in America," Ivan said. "What about the wedding?" Devon said. "Devon, you shouldn't lie to yourself. You love me, yes, but as a friend only. I've always knew that, I guess I was just too blind. You will always have a special place in my heart Devon. Remember, I'm your guardian. I want to see you happy. Let's stay as friends okay?" Ivan said. "Ivan...." Devon murmured. "Oh, and by the way, James is on his way there. I told him about this. Actually, you haven't noticed that on the invitations, instead of my name, James' name is written on it. I know you still love him, and the moron realized that he loves you. Get married to him. I want to see you in a happily ever after princess. I love you Devon. This is my final surprise for you. Thank you for everything my love," Ivan said. Devon is crying on the other line. "Don't thank me Ivan. I should thank you. For everything, really. And you, you would also always have a special place in my heart. I'm really sorry for all the trouble I've caused you. I love you, too Ivan, as a friend," Devon said. "Oh, and Devon, can you thank Kyra and Lauren for me? They made this plan work. Goodbye Devon, I'll see you soon," Ivan said. "Goodbye Ivan," Devon said, and they ended their call.
James arrived at the church. He saw Devon's bridal car. He knocked on the windows. Devon got out of the car. "James........." Devon murmured. James knelt on one knee. "Devon, I know I have made a mistake in the past. But I realized that I love you and I can't live without you. Devon, will you marry me again?" James asked. "I'm afraid to trust you. But my heart said I should. Yes James, I will marry you," Devon said. James stood up and hugged Devon. The people around them clapped and hooted. "If you ever hurt our bestfriend, we'll hunt you," Lauren and Kyra said. "I'm so happy for you guys!" Carina said. "Thank you Carina," James said. "I get to call you ate again!" Carina said to Devon, beaming. Devon hugged Carina. "Thank you for another chance," James said to Devon. Devon smiled. They proceed to the ceremony. And finally, it's a happily ever after.

Chapter 20
Finally, it's Ivan and Devon's wedding day.The wedding is about to start in an hour and Devon's make-up artist is late. Devon is pacing back and forth inside her room. "I'm so nervous," Devon said to her two bestfriends. "We can see that," Kyra said. "Calm down bes. Take a deep breath. Everything's going to be okay," Lauren said with a hidden smile. Devon sat down and started to take a deep breath. Finally, her make-up artist arrived.
"Wow bes...." Lauren murmured in awe. "Wow..." Kyra said. Devon looked breathtaking. "Ganda mo bes," sabi ni Kyra. "Kanino pa ba magmamana yan kundi sa akin," Devon's mom said when she entered the room. "Ma!" Devon said. "I missed you baby girl," her mom said. "I missed you too mom," Devon said. "I'm really sorry for forcing you before, sana ngayon maging maligaya ka. I hope you truly love Ivan, hindi mo sana sya pakakasalan para lang makalimutan si James," her mom said. Devon was shocked. "Do I truly love Ivan?" she asked herself. "You do. But as a friend only. The one you love is James," a tiny voice said inside her head. "Ma, I'm okay. I do love Ivan," she said, faking a smile. "Yeah, you love him. As a friend," the tiny voice in her head said again. "The wedding is going to start soon honey," Devon's mom said, kissed her forehead and then left.
Kyra and Lauren left the room to check if everything is ready and Devon is left alone in the room. Devon faced the mirror. She remembered the last time she's getting married. It was with James. But this time, it's different. "Am I really ready for this?" she asked herself. She doesn't want to hurt Ivan. Ivan. The guy has been with her through everything. Ivan loved her more than anyone else, except maybe her parents and best friends. "Pero hindi ba selfish sa part mo na pakasalan si Ivan kung di mo sya mahal at para lang makalimutan si James? And hindi ba mas masasaktan lang si Ivan kung malalaman nya na iba pa rin pala ang mahal matapos kayong ikasal?" sabi ng boses sa loob ng puso nya. "I'm so confused," Devon murmured. She took a deep breath. "Devon, the wedding is going to start. Let's go to the church," Lauren said.

Chapter 19
Ivan was worrying about his relationship with Devon. He felt that he's slipping from him little by little. "I can't bear the thought of living without you Devon...." he whispered.
It was seven in the morning and Devon is having coffee when a maid gave her a white envelope. Devon opened the envelope.
Meet me at the beach, right now. Surprise number one is waiting :)
Ivan
Devon smiled. She changed into a dress and flip-flops and went to the beach. There, she found Ivan. Ivan prepared a picnic blanket, with some sandwiches and fruits and drinks. "Hey," she said. "Good morning," Ivan said. She smiled at Ivan's sweet gesture. "Good morning," sabi ni Devon. "Breakfast by the beach, how lovely," Devon commented. "I'm glad you liked it," Ivan said.
What they didn't know is that James is watching from afar. He's dropping by the beach everyday, just to catch a glimpse of Devon. James smiled, seeing Devon smiling. He won't deny that he wishes to be in Ivan's place, but he felt happy seeing Devon happy. He left, leaving a single blue rose on the sand.
"Wait, I'm feeling a bit cold, can I get my cardigan first?" sabi ni Devon. "Sure," Ivan replied. Devon stood up. She was running when she stepped on a blue rose. "Huh!? Ano namang ginagawa ng isang magandang rosas dito?" she murmured and then she picked the rose up.
Ivan gave Devon another surprise the following week.
For the second week, he rented a whole theme park just for her. They rode the roller coaster, viking and other rides. Ivan even rode the carousel for her. Lastly, they rode the ferris wheel. It was romantic, seeing the lights of Australia, riding a ferris wheel and being with Ivan. "Thank you Ivan, really, thank you," Devon said. Ivan just smiled.
Devon went home that day, feeling a bit tired. She was searching for a particular top but she couldn't find it in her closet. "Saan ko ba nalagay yun..." sabi ni Devon sa sarili. Tiningnan nya ang ilalim ng kama ng may makita syang isang pamilyar na kahon. "Naiuwi ko pala to..." Devon murmured. She opened the box. She saw some old photos of James. Stolen shots that she took when nobody was looking. A copy of their marriage certificate was inside the box, too. And also some of the pictures on their wedding day. Tears started to fall out from her eyes. "Huh, what a wedding day that was. Caught him kissing his lover at the reception..." Devon murmured once again. She started looking at the old photos, giving comments once in a while.
Little did she know that her door is ajar, and Ivan saw what she did......
The following day, the maid gave her another note.
Devon,
let's have dinner tonight. A car will pick you up. Be ready by eight.
Ivan
Devon smiled. "Another surprise eh.." she murmured.
Time passed by so quickly. Devon is wearing a white and black dress. She curled her hair and applied a light makeup. A white car picked Devon up.
They're having dinner at a famous restaurant. Devon can hear a light, sweet sound coming from a piano in the backround. "Did you like my second surprise?" Ivan asked. "Yes, thank you Ivan," Devon replied with a smile. Ivan suddenly took a deep breath. He stood up, and the waiter gave him something. Ivan kneeled in front of Devon. He took her hand and opened the little blue box that the waiter gave him. "Devon I've loved you for so long. I know that I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Do you feel the same about me? Devon, will you marry me?" Ivan asked. Devon thought for a while if she's ready to get married. Then she thought about how sweet and thoughtful and caring Ivan is, how he's always's there for her. "Yes, I'll marry you," Devon said. Ivan shouted, "Yes! She said yes!" Devon blushed. The people in the restaurant clapped and hooted.
The preparation for the wedding started immediately. Ivan is rushing their wedding plans. "I remember the last time we were planning a wedding," Kyra murmured to Lauren, but Devon heard it. "Mauunahan nyo pa kami ni Sam ah..." Lauren said. "Sorry Lo. Pero gusto kasi ni Ivan na ikasal kami agad eh," Devon said, forcing a smile. "I see..." Lauren said. Lauren's phone rings. "Sandali lang ha, sagutin ko lang tong tawag," Lauren said to her friends.
She went to the balcony. She looked at the caller ID. She was surprised to see who's callng her. "Hello," she said. "Hello Lauren. I need your and Kyra's help," Ivan said from the other line.

Chapter 18
Devon noticed that Ivan have been sweeter to her lately. Sending flowers, texting and calling her while he's at work. Devon's wondering why. He tried talking to Kyra and Lauren about Ivan's actions. "Baka naman kasi naga-alala lang yung tao, syempre andito na kayo sa Australia, andito si James..." sabi ni Kyra. "Siguro nga..." pagsasang-ayon ni Devon. Devon heard the doorbell. "Sandali lang, tingnan ko muna kung sino ang nasa pinto," Devon excused herself.
She was surprised to see Carina, James' younger sister. "Hi ate Devon," Carina said shyly. "Come.. come in," sabi ni Devon sa bisita. Carina said her hellos to both Lauren and Kyra. "Ate Devon, can we talk in private?" Carina asked Devon. The latter nodded and took Carina to the balcony. "How did you know where I'm staying?" Devon asked. "Well, I'm a daughter of a powerful business man. We have our ways..." Carina said. "It's so good to see you ate," Carina said, softly. "You too Carina," Devon smiled. "Ate, I have a huge favor to ask..." Carina asked. "Sure, I'll do it," Devon said. Carina took a deep breath. "Can you get back together with my brother?" Carina asked, pleading with her eyes. "I... I can't do that..." Devon said. "He's been miserable these past years. I can't take seeing my brother that miserable. I know he loves you and I know you love him, too," Carina said, tears threatening to fall from here eyes. "I loved him Carina, I admit. But he hurted me so much Carina..." Devon said. "Can't you forgive my brother for love? Please..." Carina pleaded. "Carina, I'm really sorry..." Devon said. She took out a notebook from her bag and gave it to devon. "Well, I respect your decision.." Carina said and left. Devon went back to the living room. "Anong napag-usapan nyo?" Lauren asked. "James..." ang matipid na sagot ni Devon. Sinimulan nyang basahin ang mga sulat.
Dear Devon,
I'm sorry. I really am. Can you please come back? I've missed you. I missed your cooking, your thoughtfulness and you're smile. I was stupid, I do admit. I've been fooling myself for so long. I was trying my best not to fall for you, but I did anyway. I used Ann as an excuse to myself all this time. I used to love Ann, but everything's just changed when I got to know you better. But I kept denying it. I really am sorry. I don't know where you are right now, but please, come back.
James
It was a notebook, full of letters, written for her. Nakita ni Devon na nagulo ang sulat ng tubig. Pero alam nya, sa loob nya, na mga luha yon ni James. Tears are falling out of her eyes from reading James' first letter. She turned the page and read the second one.
Dear Devon,
It's been three months now. I'm still hoping you're gonna come back. Are you doing well? I'm miserable right now. I'm miserable with out you. Please come back.
James
She skipped pages to read the latest letter.
Dear Devon,
I saw you earlier. You can't believe how happy I am to see you. I'm sorry I made you sad. Again.
I admit, I was sad to hear that you thought I was Ivan. What a lucky guy he is. I wish I was the one in his shoes. My heart broke, I admit when you said you're happy with him. That was selfish of me, I know. But I'm truly glad you find your happiness. That's the thing I'm hoping for. I still love you devon. I still do, up until now. Maybe it's stupid for me to keep waiting. But I guess, that's what love does to some people.
James
Devon's tears won't stop. She admits, she still love James. But a part of her kept denying it. She's also afraid of hurting Ivan.
Ivan. The guy who've been with her through everything. Her guardian angel. She can't bear the thought of hurting him
Now, she's confused....
"If you still love James, I say, go for it," Lauren said, warpping her arms around Devon's shoulder. "Pero Lo, I can't hurt Ivan! Sya lang ang kadamay ko nung mga panahon di ko alam kung saan ako pupunta. Di ko kayang saktan si Ivan...." Devon said. "Pero hindi mo ba nare-realize Devz? Mas masasaktan lang si Ivan kung papaasahin mo sya. And alam ko, you will regret it if you don't follow your feelings," Lauren explained. "No Lo, I have build a wall around me these past years, and di ko na hahayaan pang makapasok si James sa walls na yun. Di ko na kayang masaktan pa," Devon said. "Well you're being selfish Devon! You're not thinking about Ivan's happiness! You're thinking about your feelings! If you really care about Ivan, consider his feelings. Paano kung ikasal kayo, then one day dun mo ma-realize na di mo pala kayang turuan ang puso mo? Ano sa tingin mo ang mangyayari?" Lauren said, trying to make Devon see sense. "Let's go Lo, I think Devon needs time to think," Kyra said, pulling Lauren's hand.

Chapter 17
James was walking alone at the beach to clear off his mind, when he spotted a familiar figure. "Devon...." he whispered. Devon felt somebody staring at her. Thinking it was Ivan, she screamed, "Ivan, I know it's you," and then she laughed. When she heard no response, she turned around and got the surprise of her life. "James...." she said. "He changed... a lot," Devon thought. "His face looks so sad and hollow, and his eyebags are huge. What happened to him!?" Devon thought again. "She never change. Still as beautiful as ever," James thought. James approached Devon and sat beside her. "How are you," he asked, trying to break the tension. "I'm good. Never better. You?" she timidly replied. "Been better," ang matipid na sagot ng binata. "You've... changed," sabi ni Devon. "I guess I did..." he said. Nabalutan sila ng katahimikan.
They didn't notice, that a guy was watching them. Ivan's face was full of emotion. Pain, jealousy and anger. He wanted to approach them, but he felt that that would be selfish of him. "After all, I'm the guardian angel. I should think about her happiness first," he thought and left.
"You, you haven't changed," James said, throwing pebbles into the water. "Nah, I changed, you just haven't noticed it," she replied. "So... what happened when I was gone?" Devon asked. "Hmm... well, you probably heard about it but Sam and Lauren are engaged. I became VP of the company. How about in your life? What changed?" tanong naman ni James. "Well, I've opened up a business. And me and Ivan are doing well on our relationship," Devon said, without realizing that she's breaking James' heart with her last statement. "I see..." he replied. And both became silent again. "I missed you," James said out of nowhere. Hearing these words, tears welled up in Devon's eyes. She was suddenly angry, all the fury that has been building up inside her all these years came out. "If you think that I'm the same girl I used to be, well that's where your wrong! I will never, ever, give you a chance to hurt me once again!" she said her piece and then left, leaving a shocked James behind.

Devon was crying when she came back inside the house. Ivan, worried with Devon, came by her side immediately. "I... I saw James... I dunno, my anger just came out. I- I can't help it," Devon said. "Shhh..." Ivan comforted Devon. "You know, I feel sad when I see you sad... Don't worry about him. I promised you that I will protect you no matter what, remember?" Ivan said. Devon nodded. "Well have a little faith in me then...." Ivan said.

Chapter 16
"I've missed Australia," Devon murmured with a smile. "Me too," Ivan replied. "I can't wait to see Lo and Kyra!" Devon beamed. "They're on their way here," sabi ni Ivan. They're in Ivan's own home, a home he bought for him and Devon. It was near the beach because Devon fell in love with beaches. And whatever made Devon happy, made him happy too.
The doorbell rang, and Devon ran to the gate. "Lo! Kyra!" Devon screamed and hugged her friends. "Devon!" the two screamed at the same time. "We missed you Devs," Lauren whispered to Devon's ear. "I've missed you too, both of you," sabi ni Devon. The three started crying. "Pasok kayo," sabi ni Devon. Then she spotted Sam. "Hey," sabi nya kay Sam. "Devon," Sam said, and he hugged her. "Welcome back," sabi ni Sam. "I'm happy to be back."
Nakaupo sila Devon, Kyra at Lauren sa sala samantalang nasa balcony sina Sam at Ivan. "Everything's so different without you bes," sabi ni Kyra. "Oo nga," pag-sangayon ni Lauren. Devon smiled. And she gasped when she saw a ring on Lauren's ring finger. Lauren saw where Devon's looking. "Oh yeah, me and Sam got engaged last night," Lauren informed them. "And you forgot to share this news to us!?" Kyra said. "When? Where? How!?" Devon fired questions to her friend. "Last night, at our old school's library. You know, we first met there. The fool rented the whole library. May pagkabaliw, but kinilig ako," sabi ni Lauren na namumula. "I'm so happy for you bes. At least, one of us found our happy ending now," sabi i Devon, tears welling up in her eyes. She hugged her friend. "Congrats bes," sabi ni Kyra, mangiyak-ngiyak din na niyakap si Lauren. "You two will be the maid of honors okay," sabi ni Lauren. "Thanks Lo," sabi ng dalawa.
Meanwhile, Ivan and Sam are also having a serious conversation in the balcony. "How is he?" Ivan asked, reffering to James. "He's devastated. Been keeping himself busy with work," sabi ni Sam. Ivan snorted. "He's devastated!? After what he did to her? If you just saw her before Sam.... there are no words to describe it. She's crying her heart out everytime. Been staring at nothing. She was like a robot," sabi ni Ivan, shuddering at the memory. "Well, you should see James too, Ivan. He was crying, something he don't usually do. He never goes out any more. And he got thinner, and his eyebags reaches his cheeks," Sam said, shaking his head. "Well... maybe I'll drop by his office tomorrow," Ivan said, his face unreadable.

The next day, Ivan stayed true to his words. After dropping Devon off to Lauren's house because their planning the wedding, he went straight to James' office.

"Sir, a Mr. Dorschner is here to see you," James' secretary said to him. James was surprised to hear that Ivan is visiting him. "Let him in," sabi ni James. Ivan entered. "James, it's been a long time...." Ivan said, his face bears no emotion. "Ivan..." James whispered. "How are you James?" Ivan asked James. "Miserabale, to say at the least," James replied, looking into Ivan's eyes. "Hmmph," Ivan snorted. "How about you Ivan?" James asked. "Hmm... much more miserable that you. Seeing that I have to watch Devon cry her heart out every day," Ivan said, glaring at James. "Well, I didn't went here to have chit-chat with you. I'm here to tell you to lose your hope of having Devon back. She's fine with you out of her life. I heard from Sam that you're still waiting for her. Remember what I said to you years ago? I said 'If I find her, I won't bring her back to you. I will keep her and heal her wounds'. Well, she finally did heal. And I don't want her to get hurt again. So please stay out of her life," with that said, Ivan left James' office.

Chapter 15
After a couple years......
Devon and James got divorced.
James don't know anything about Devon's whereabouts.
James graduated, so is Devon.
Devon and Ivan now lives in US.
James discovered the truth about Ann and broke up with her.
And now, he's waiting for the one he let go.

"Are you sure Devon?" Ivan asked her. "Yes. I think I'm finally ready Ivan. I'm ready to face the monsters of my past. So I can move to the future without doubts. To our future," Devon said, smiling.
Ivan became Devon's guardian. The past years weren't easy for her. She cried all the time....
*flashback*
Devon wrapped her arms around her knees. "I loved him more than I realized....." Devon said to no one. She's sitting on the sand, watching the waves. She didn't realized that Ivan was watching her. Ivan came near her and tugged on her elbows. "Let's go swim," Ivan said. "But.... I don't know how to..." Devon shyly admitted. "Then I'll teach you," sabi ni Ivan with a smile.
*end of flashback*
Ivan lifted Devon's feelings when she's down. That's why she's grateful for him. She admits that she couldn't love Ivan like she love him. For now. And Ivan knows it. She doesn't want to be unfair ho Ivan.
The plane landed. Devon and Ivan got off from the plane. "Australia, I'm back....." bulong ni Devon.

James is now busying himself with work. Trying to fill the emptiness inside him with work. His now a successful vice president of their company. Soon, he will be the president. Bot somehow, he doesn't feel happy.
"Come on James! All you've been doing this past years is to work. You don't even have time for yourself anymore!" Sam said one day when he visited James. "You know I need this," matipid na sagot ni James. "It's been what!? Four, five years. Let her go man. Lauren said that she's okay," sabi ni Sam and he regretted it immediately. He shouldn't have told James that. "You have news about Devon!?" tannong ni James while shaking Sam's shoulders. "Uh...." di makasagot si Sam. "Tell me or else...." pagbabanta ni James. He had this crazed look in his eyes. "Fine. But don't tell Lauren, or anybody else for that matter, that I told you," sabi ni Sam at tumango naman si James. "She's fine. last we heard, she's in the US with Ivan," sabi ni Sam. James smiled at the first information but his smile faded when he heard Ivan's name. "So, she's with Ivan. I expected that, but dude, it still hurts you know," James said, tears starting to form in his eyes. "Everyday, I regretted what I did to her. It was too late when I realized my real feelings...." James said. "If you do love her, don't let yourself go James. So one day if she came back, she can see that you've changed. Have some fun, for her sake," sabi ni Sam. James nodded, but he didn't have fun, not one bit.

Chapter 14

"What the f*ck did you do to Devon!" sigaw ni Ivan at sinapak nya si James. "She didn't attend her class," sabi ni Ivan. Wala namang sinabi si James. "Tsk! Your wife is missing and you don't say anything! F*ck you!" sabi ni Ivan. "If I find her, I won't bring her back to you. I will keep her and heal her wounds. Wounds that you've created," sabi ni Ivan at nagmamadali itong umalis upang hanapin si Devon.
James went home. There was no sign of Devon.....
Night came. The mansion felt empty. Lonely. He felt empty.

Devon was sitting on the beach. For how long she was there, she didn't know. "Devon..." a familiar voice said. She felt arms wrapped around her. "I was so worried. Don't do that again okay? At least tell me where your going," sabi ni Ivan. She actually hoped it was James. She felt a tear rolled down her cheek. "Ivan, I have a favor to ask. Can you take me far away, away from here. Away from him..... I'm begging you. I'm begging you," sabi ni Devon. Ivan tightened his hug. "I will. I will take you far away from him," sagot ni Ivan. "Thank you Ivan. Thank you......" sabi ni Devon.

I feel so tired now. I don't know what to do anymore. So I want to escape. I'm finally giving you the freedom you want. Just sign the documents please. Let's end this, because I feel so tired now.... I'm giving up.

James thought about it. He know he was being selfish, not letting Devon go. "I don't love her," he reminded himself. "But what the hell is this feeling...?" tanong nya sa sarili.

Ivan watched Devon. She's been spending her time in Ivan's family's rest house. It was peaceful there. She felt relaxed, watching the sea. But she couldn't help to feel sad. As she remembered everything that happened, tears just won't stop falling. Ivan came near to Devon. "Devon, I want to say something, that I've been keeping a secret for quite a long time now," sabi ni Ivan. Nakikinig naman ng maiigi si Devon. "Devon, I like you," pag-amin ni Ivan. "Ivan...I....I..." di makasagot si Devon. "I know you don't see me that way. But, I'm willing to wait. As long as forever, I'm willing to wait," sabi ni Ivan. Devon touched his cheek. "Thank you Ivan. For everything. I don't know when these wounds will completely heal, but when I can finally trust and love completely again, I'm sure it will be you Ivan....." sabi ni Devon. "As I said, I'm willing to wait. So take your time, I will right here by your side, helping you heal those wounds. I won't stop being your guardian. One day, I know you can completely untangle yourself from him. And until that day comes, I'll be your guardian......" bulong ni Ivan. "Thank you Ivan..."

Chapter 13
Enrique just came back from his business trip. He went to the Kwon's house immediately to see his daughter. "Thank you for taking care of my daughter," sabi ni Enrique. "Don't mention it. Devon was really happy to see Sophie," sabi ni James. "Papa!" sigaw ni Sophie ng makita ang ama. Devon smiled at Enrique. "Hey baby!" sabi ni Enrique at kinarga ang anak. "So...did you behave here?" tanong ni Enrique. "Yes papa," sagot ng bata. Nagkwentuhan muna sina Enrique at Devon bago nagpaalam sina Enrique at Sophie. "I'll miss you mama," sabi ng bata habang niyayakap si Devon. "I'll miss you too. Be a good girl always okay. Always listen to your papa," bilin ni Devon. Tumango lang si Sophie.
After a tearful farewell, pumasok na sina James at Devon sa mansyon. Naging tahimik na naman ang mansyon, dahil wala na ang makulit na si Sophie.
They went back to their daily routine. Monday came so fast.
At one class, Devon suddenly tripped. Wala man lang tumulong sa kanya. Nagmadali nyang kinuha ang mga gamit nya ng may biglang tumulong sa kanya. Nagulat sya na ng tiningnan nya ang mukha ng tumulong sa kanya, ito'y walang iba kundi si Ann. "T-thank you Ann," sabi ni Devon. "you're welcome," sagot ni Ann. Devon heard the others whisper how Ann is so nice, how much ungrateful she is, and that Ann is James' 'real girl'.
Ann raised her eyebrows. She tugged on Devon's elbow. "Devon, can we talk for a sec?" tanong ni Ann. Devon nodded. "I know you might think that I'm only trying to destroy your relationship. But Devon, I really love him. I was born and raised poor. And James, well his family is rich. Our status is completely different. And I know that one day, he'll be in an arranged marriage. But I can't help to fall in love with him. I'm sorry Devon, but I love him so much to give him up," sabi ni Ann at umalis din agad. Na-guilty si Devon sa mga sinabi ni Ann. Pakiramdam nya, sinisira nya ang magandang relasyon nina Ann at James.
Papunta na si Devon sa susunod nyang class ng madaan sya sa likuran ng building. May narinig syang pamilyar na boses. "Sino yun?" isip ni Devon. Pagsilip nya, nakita nya si Ann. She's being pinned on the wall by some guy. Ann's eyes widened when she saw Devon. She and the guy are in the middle of a kiss. The guy immediately fled when he saw Devon. " I... I uh.." sabi ni Ann. Bigla sinampal ni Ann ang sarili. "Devon, don't do this please!" biglang sigaw ni Ann. Naguluhan si Devon. "Please dont hurt me!" sigaw ni Ann. Nagulat si Devon ng makita nya sa likod nya si James, halata ang galit sa mga mata nito.
"I, I didn't do anything," pagpapaliwanag ni Devon. "I don't need your excuses!" sigaw ni James kay Devon. "If you think that by hurting Ann, you will have me, that's where your wrong," sabi ni James. James went to Ann and brought her to the infirmary. While Devon, her heart pierced by James words, was left crying and broken.

Chapter 12
James stirred from his sleep. He saw a small figure standing beside his bed. "Is uncle James awake now?" asked Sophie. He nodded. Sophie immediately wrapped her tiny arms around James' waist. "Uncle James, Sophie is hungry...." the little girl murmured. "Where's your mama?" James asked. "She's still sleeping..." Sophie replied. James carried the little girl. "Come on, I'll make you some breakfast. Do you want some pancakes?" James said. The little girl clapped her hands cutely. "I want some chocolate chips pancake uncle," the little girl said with a sweet smile.
Nanonood ang mga kasambahay ng mga Reid kung paano nagluluto ang amo nila. Nakakunot ang noo na nagfi-flip ng pancakes si James. Ng magawa nya ito ng paayos, natuwa at pumalakpak naman si Sophie. Tuwang tuwa ang bata ng ma-flip ni James ng maganda ang pancake. "You know uncle, I wanted to have a little sister. But since my real mama is not here, I can't have a little sister. But mama Devon promised me that she'll give me a little sister someday," Sophie suddenly said habang kumakain sila. Halos mabulunan si James sa sinabi ni Sophie.
Kumakain na sina James at Sophie ng magising si Devon. "Mama!" sigaw ni Sophie at binigyan ng yakap si Devon. "Good morning baby. Did you slept well last night?" tanong ni Devon. "Yes mama. Mama, uncle James made me some breakfast!" sabi ni Sophie with a smile. "Aahhh... I'm sorry James," sabi ni Devon, looking down. "It's okay," sabi ni James. Ngumiti si Devon. "Join us for breakfast. We can't consume all these pancakes," James said to Devon. Devon sat down and ate breakfast with Sophie and James. They looked like one big family.
James is busy studying when he heard a knock on his door. "Come in!" Devon opened the door. "What do you want? Can't you see I'm busy?" galit na tanong ni James. "Uh, sorry for bothering you. Sophie and I will just go to the carnival. I'm wondering if you would like to join us..?" Devon asked shyly. "I don't have time to do stupid things! And I'm done babysitting your friend's kid," sigaw ni James. Devon slumped in defeat. She felt tears forming in her orbs. "S-sorry for bothering you," Devon said and went out of the room.
At the carnival, Devon and Sophie, with Lauren and Kyra, are having fun. The carnival was wonderful. There are colorful lights, rides and many booths. "Mama, I'm thirsty," sabi ni Sophie. "Let's buy some drinks over there," yaya ni Lauren at Kyra. The three went to buy drinks. She smiled to herself as she saw Sophie waving.
Then something caught her eyes. It was him with his friends and Ann. He's wearing his most casual clothes and his arm is around Ann's shoulders.
Despite the crowd at the carnival, Devon can still see James' figure clearly. "Buti naman nakangiti na sya, sayang nga lang yung ngiti nya hindi para sa akin," bulong ni Devon sa sarili. "Yo.." Ivan popped out of nowhere. "One day, you're gonna give me a heart attack," Devon murmured but Ivan heard her. "You're here by yourself?" tanong ni Devon kay Ivan. "Nope. I'm with James and crew," Ivan chuckeled. "Well, why are you here then?" tanong ni Devon. "Eh, they're old enough to handle themselves. And I wanted to greet you," sagot ni Ivan. "Mama!" Sophie screamed. "Mama!?" Ivan asked, his eyes round with surprise. "That's my friend's child," Devon said and then she explained her and Sophie's situation. "Are you mama and papa's friend?" Sophie asked Ivan with her cute smile. "He's mama's friend darling," sabi ni Devon. "Devon, I have to go now. There's an emergency," sabi ni Kyra with a panicked look on her face. "What's wrong?" tanong ni evon, nag-aalala sa kaibigan. "Don't worry about it. I just have to get home fast," sabi ni Kyra. "Devs, ako rin. Grandma had a heart attack," sabi ni Lauren, maiyak-iyak. Devon hugged her friend. "Take care okay? I'll pray for Grandma," bulong ni Lauren sa kaibigan. Umalis na sina Lauren at Kyra.
"Mama, who is he?" Sophie asked. "He's uncle Ivan baby," sagot ni Devon. "Is he a friend of uncle James, too?" tanong ng bata. Tumango lang si Devon.
"Ivan, I can carry her myself," Devon said as she tug on Ivan's shirt. "It's okay. You're so thin, I really doubt that you can carry Sophie," sagot ni Ivan with a smirk.
*flashback*
"Mama! I want that teddy!" sabi ni Sophie while pointing at a huge pink teddy bear. The three went to the stall.
"Thank you uncle," sabi ni Sophie kay Ivan. Ivan had to play a few times bago nya nakuha ang teddy bear. But it was all worth it, kasi nakita nyang nakangiti sina Sophie at Devon.
*flashback end*
"Thank you Ivan, really. You made Sophie very happy today," sabi ni Devon. "Come on, you must be tired," sabi ni Ivan at hinatid na nya ang dalawa sa bahay.

He saw her. All throughout the night, her face flashes through her mind. Seeing her with Ivan, he didn't know what to do. Gusto nyang lapitan ang dalawa, gusto nyang komprontahin, pero di sumusunod ang katawan nya sa sinasabi ng utak nya. And alam din nya na dapat na na-kay Ann ang pagtingin nya. He should find Ann's reaction cute. He should see her cute when she asks him to do task in booths. Pero imbis na yun ang makita nya, ang tanging nakikita nya ay ang pangungulit at pang-iinarte ni Ann. "Since when did I started to compare Ann to her....." bulong ni James sa sarili.

Chapter 11
James entered Devon's room. Enrique didn't found out that they sleep in differeny rooms. Devon looked so peaceful. James smiled and went to his room.
James woke up when a tiny finger poked his cheek. "Huh?" James murmured when he saw a little version of Devon. "I must be dreaming...." bulong ni James sa sarili."Sophie! Sophie! Baby!!" James heard. It was Devon's voice. "Mama, I'm here!" sigaw ng bata. "Baby!? Mama!? What the hell is going on?" isip ni James. "Baby! I was looking everywhere for you!" sabi ni Devon sa bata. "I'm so sorry mama. It won't happen again," sabi ng bata, halata ang lungkot sa mukha. "I was shouting like a lunatic! Don't ever do that again to mama. You know how much I love you baby," sabi ni Devon. Sophie kissed Devon's cheek.
Napatingin si Devon kay James. "I...I'm so sorry. Did she disturbed you?" tanong ni Devon. "Who is she?" James asked, ignoring her question. "She's Sophie, Enrique's daughter," sagot ni Devon. "Mama, who is he?" Sophie asked. "He's uncle James," nakangiting sagot ni Devon. Sophie looked at James and gave him a sweet smile. "She looks like Devon," James murmured. "Mama, is uncle James a friend of Papa?" Sophie asked. "Papa. He's talking about Enrique," James thought. He feels uneasy because Sophie is calling Devon 'mama'. "Yes baby...." Devon said, kissing the girl's cheeks, making the little girl giggle. "Come on baby, we shouldn't bother uncle James. And papa is probably looking for you," sabi ni Devon sa bata. "I'm sorry again James," then lumabas na si Sophie at Devon.
Sophie was born and raised in America. But she and her father moved back to the Phillipines when she was five. She can speak Tagalog and English fluently. She's now six years old. She has never met her mother. Her mother left her and her father after giving birth to Sophie. She treats Devon, her father's friend, as her real mother.
James went downstairs and stiffened at the sight before him. Enrique and Devon are playing with Sophie. They looked like one big family. "Uncle James!!" Sophie said. "Uncle James, play with me?" Sophie asked. "Sure," James said smiling. Devon was surprised at James answer.
"Sophie never met her mother. She.... she left Sophie with me after she gave birth, and I never saw her after that. Devon and I are glad that she knew Devon is not her real mother despite her young age. But she still treats Devon as her real mother. And I'm grateful to Devon because she's treating my daughter as her own," Enrique said to James once they had the chance to talk. James had fun playing with Sophie, a thing he didn't expect. He used to hate kids. But he felt at ease with Sophie. Maybe because he looks like Devon.
*flashback*
He carried Sophie on his shoulders. He tickled the little girl. Then his eyes met Devon's. She smiled at him. He stiffened, wondering if she really smiled at him.
*end of flashback*
"You're so lucky to have her. I'm sure you're future kids will be lucky to have her as you're mom," Enrique said. "Yeah..." was James answer. He used to hate kids, and as far as he know, Ann hates kids too. "Papa! Join us!" Sophie said, giggling. "Sure, sweetie," sabi ni Enrique. James sat there, thinking about family. What if.... what if he become a dad? But there's something wrong with the picture in his head. Because instead of Ann, he saw Devon as the mother of his children inside his head.
James was resting inside his room when he heard a knock. Devon opened the door. "Quen lest already. He was in a hurry. He said thank you for letting him stay here. And I just let Sophie spend some days here, since Quen can't look after her at his convention," Devon informed James. "I'm going out," James said coldly. And off he went to see Ann.
James and Ann were in a middle of a kiss when James suddenly asked, "Ann, what do you think of having our own family?" Ann looked confused. "James, what's with the sudden topic? And I know you hate kids....." Ann said. "Nothing," and they went back to what they were doing.
He went back at the mansion at midnight. When he went to check on Devon, he found out that Sophie was sleeping beside her. He wondered, if he's gonna have a family of his own, would this scene infront of him would always greet him when he got home? He just smiled at the thought.

She has never met her mother. Her mother left her and her father after giving birth to Sophie. She treats Devon, her father's friend, as her real mother.
James went downstairs and stiffened at the sight before him. Enrique and Devon are playing with Sophie. They looked like one big family. "Uncle James!!" Sophie said. "Uncle James, play with me?" Sophie asked. "Sure," James said smiling. Devon was surprised at James answer.
"Sophie never met her mother. She.... she left Sophie with me after she gave birth, and I never saw her after that. Devon and I are glad that she knew Devon is not her real mother despite her young age. But she still treats Devon as her real mother. And I'm grateful to Devon because she's treating my daughter as her own," Enrique said to James once they had the chance to talk. James had fun playing with Sophie, a thing he didn't expect. He used to hate kids. But he felt at ease with Sophie. Maybe because he looks like Devon.
*flashback*
He carried Sophie on his shoulders. He tickled the little girl. Then his eyes met Devon's. She smiled at him. He stiffened, wondering if she really smiled at him.
*end of flashback*
"You're so lucky to have her. I'm sure you're future kids will be lucky to have her as you're mom," Enrique said. "Yeah..." was James answer. He used to hate kids, and as far as he know, Ann hates kids too. "Papa! Join us!" Sophie said, giggling. "Sure, sweetie," sabi ni Enrique. James sat there, thinking about family. What if.... what if he become a dad? But there's something wrong with the picture in his head. Because instead of Ann, he saw Devon as the mother of his children inside his head.
James was resting inside his room when he heard a knock. Devon opened the door. "Quen lest already. He was in a hurry. He said thank you for letting him stay here. And I just let Sophie spend some days here, since Quen can't look after her at his convention," Devon informed James. "I'm going out," James said coldly. And off he went to see Ann.
James and Ann were in a middle of a kiss when James suddenly asked, "Ann, what do you think of having our own family?" Ann looked confused. "James, what's with the sudden topic? And I know you hate kids....." Ann said. "Nothing," and they went back to what they were doing.
He went back at the mansion at midnight. When he went to check on Devon, he found out that Sophie was sleeping beside her. He wondered, if he's gonna have a family of his own, would this scene infront of him would always greet him when he got home? He just smiled at the thought.

Chapter 10
"Good morning Lady Devon," said a girl her age. "Call me Devon, I don't want anybody calling me lady," sabi ni Devon. "Lady, it's not right for us to call you by your name. Breakfast is ready Lady Devon," sabi ng servant. "Wait, how old are you?" tanong ni Devon. "I'm 19 Lady Devon," sabi ng servant. "Ooooh... same age as me," sabi ni Devon. "What's your name?" tanong muli ni Devon. "I'm Fretzie, Lady Devon," ani ni Fretzie. Maganda sya, tsinita. "Are you Australian," chika nya kay Fretzie. "No, Lady. I'm filipina," sabi ni Fretzie. "Marunong kong magtagalog? Tsaka taga-saan ka?" tanong ni Devon. "Marunong po. Taga-Cebu po ako Lady Devon," sagot ni Fretzie. "Ano ka ba, wag mo nga akong i-po. Magkaedad naman tayo eh," sabi ni Devon. Hinatak nya si Fretzie at niyayang samahan sya sa breakfast, kasi tulog pa si James. Nung una ay umaayaw pa si Fretzie, pero dahil sa pangungulit ni Devon ay napapayag nya ito.
"I have to do my job Lady Devon," sabi ni Fretzie. "Lady Devon ka dyan. Sabi ko sayo Devon na lang. Wag kang mag-alala, di ka pagagalitan, sagot nga kita diba? Sige ka magtatampo ako sayo nyan," sabi ni Devon with a pout. "Sige na, Devon na nga lang," sabi ni Fretzie with a smile.
"Lady-- I mean, Devon, you're friend is waiting for you downstairs," sabi ni Fretzie. "Okay, thanks," sabi ni Devon. She went to get dressed in a simple white sundress. She went downstairs, hoping to see Lauren and Kyra downstairs, but what she saw surprised her. "Quen!" sigaw ni Devon. "Devon..." sabi ni Quen. Nagyakapan ang magkaibigan.
James woke up from his slumber when he heard Devon's voice. He changed into a simple polo shirt and jeans. "What's going on?" he asked one of the servants. "A friend of Lady Devon arrived sir," sabi ng servant. "Friend?" James asked. "Yes sir. A person named Enrique," sabi ng servant. "A guy..... inside our own house," sabi ni James sa sarili.
Bumaba sya at nadatnan sina Devon at Quen, nagyayakapan. He just watched as the two are tightly embracing. He saw the way Quen hugged his wife, the way he look at her, the way he smiled at her.
"Quen! I missed you so much!" sabi ni Devon sa half- Pinoy half-American nyang kaibigan. "I missed you too, Devon," sambit naman ni Quen. "I sent you an invitation to my wedding...." sabi ni Devon. "Sorry Devon-von, I've been busy.. with me taking over the company and such..." sagot ni Quen. "I understand..." Devon said with a sweet smile.
Di naman nila napansin ang isang lalaki sa may hagdan na kung makatingin akala mo papatay. James clenched his fist because of the two oblivious people in front of him. "Ehem-ehem," James faked cough. The two turned around. They saw a blank-faced James walking towards them. "I think it's the first time we're gonna met, Mr....." sabi ni James. "Gil. I'm Enrique Gil. A very good friend of Devon's. Just call me Enrique," sabi ni Quen sa kaharap na binata. "I'm James, Devon's HUSBAND," James said, emphasizing the word husband. "Funny, you said you're a good friend of my wife, but I've never heard her mention you before," dagdag pa ni James. "Hmm... well, I guess you don't know many things about her, considering that I've been her friend for seventeen years," Quen said with a smirk.
Nararamdaman ni Devon ang tensyon sa pagitan ng dalawa. "Quen, do you want to stay here for the night? Andami natin na dapat pag-usapan," aya ni Devon sa kaibigan. Nintindihan naman nni James ang sinabi ng dalaga kaya di na nya pinigilan. "As long as he doesn't do anything improper to her. Or else...." isip ni James.
Nagpunta sina Quen at Devon sa may veranda at doon nag-usap. "How's Sophie?" tanong ni Devon. "She's okay. But she misses you alot," sabi ni Quen kay Devon, may malungkot na ngiti sa kanyang labi. "I miss her too. Ikaw ha, wag na wag mong pababayaan si Sophie ha. Malalagot ka sa akin!" sabi ni Devon, nakatingin sa mga mata ni Quen. "Yes maam!" sabi ni Quen, at nagtawanan ang dalawa.
"What the hell are those two talking about?" inis na tanong ni James. "Why does he have to look and smile at my wife like that?" ani ni James sa sarili habang tinitingnan ng masama si Enrique.
"Sophie wants to visit you tommorow. Nasa bahay sya ngayon ni mama. Pero bukas dalawin ka raw nya dito," Quen informed Devon. Niyakap ni Devon si Quen sa sobrang saya. "Really? Na miss ko na si Sophie!" sabi ni Devon, di nya maitago ang napakalaki nyang ngiti.
Napatayo naman si James sa upuan nya ng makita nyang niyakap ni Devon si Enrique. He curled his fist. "I don't want to see this," sabi nya sa sarili at pumasok sa kwarto nya. He layed down on his bed and tried to think about his real feelings to Devon.

Chapter 9
"James, are you okay? You've been silent lately..." Ann asked. They're in the school field, having their lunch outside. "I'm okay," James said with a smile. "Are you sure?" pangungulit ni Ann. "Yeah," ang maigsing sagot ni James. "Hey lovebirds!" bati ni Sam. "Where's Ivan?" tanong ni Ann. "I dunno. He said we could eat first... maybe he has something to do," Sam said, shrugging.
James saw a lonely girl, eating lunch by herself. He heard that both Lauren and Kyra were absent, both of them have flu. She was having a lunch quietly..... until someone approached her. "Now I know where Ivan is..." isip ni James.
His eyes are glued to the pair under the tree. Ivan stood in front of Devon. Una, nakasimangot si Devon, pero ng makita nya ang mukha ng taong nasa harapan nya ay di nya napigilang ngumiti. "Hey, can I join you?" tanong ni Ivan. "Uhm... sure," sagot ni Devon na may kasamang matamis na ngiti.
PPinagmamasdan pa rin ni James ang dalawa. Nakita nyang pinapanood ni Ivan ang asawa nya habang kumakain ito. Nakita nyang binigyan ni Devon ng pagkain si Ivan. Nakita nyang nginitian ng pagkatamis-tamis ni Devon si Ivan. "Did she ever smiled to me like that?" tanong ni James sa sarili. May biglang kurot syang nadama sa kanyang dibdib.
"Am I jealous....?" isip ni James. "Impossible," isip nya.
His thoughts were interrupted when Ann held his hand. He smiled at her and continued eating.
"Ivan, won't your friends go looking for you?" tanong ni Devon. "Nah, they could manage..." sabi ni Ivan. They sat under the tree, enjoying the silence and each other's company.
"How I wish I could be in James' shoes," Ivan whispered.
"Huh?" tanong ni Devon kay Ivan, pero paglingon nya nakita nya natutulog pala si Ivan. "Weird..." isip ni Devon at tinawanan na lang nya ang sarili. Ngumiti lang si Ivan ng palihim ng marinig ang tawa ni Devon.
Sumakay si Devon ng sasakyan ng maganda ang mood. Pagsakay nya nakita nya na andun na pala si James, naghihintay. May bigla na namang kumirot sa dibdib ni James ng makita si Devon na masaya... dahil kay Ivan.
James got a call from her father. His father said that James's mom and him would go to America for business. They want James to move to the mansion with Devon, since there are servants there that could make their life easier. James agreed to this. So he and Devon packed their bags and went to the mansion.
"Good evening Lady Devon, Sir James," the maids bowed. "Good evening," devon greeted back while James ignored them. They don't have to pretend here, since all of the servants here knows about Ann. "As usual, you'll be sleeping in the guestroom," sabi ni James. Devon went to get some rest after her tiring day.

Chapter 8
Three months has passed, but James and Devon's relationship remains the same. James is still with Ann. Devon started to ignore her feeling towards James. She knows that he wouldn't love her. Devon got closer with Sam and Ivan, especially Ivan. They even go out together, just the two of them. "It's just a friendly date, nothing more," Devon always says to herself. Weeks and days passed, now it's time for their wedding.
Devon is inside a room with Kyra and Lauren. A make-up artist is working on her face while a hairstylist id fixing her hair into a bun. "Kinakabahan ako," sabi ni Devon sa mga kaibigan. "Ganyan talaga pag ikakasal," sabi ni Kyra. "Sure ka na ba talaga bes?" tanong naman ni Lauren. "Oo bes. Kakayanin ko," sabi ni Devon, trying hard to smile. They heard a knock. "Can I come in?" tanong ni Ivan mula sa kabila ng pinto. "Sure," sabi ni Devon. Pumasok si Ivan. Di napigilan ng binata ang ngumiti ng makita si Devon. "You look.... beautiful," sambit ni Ivan. Nag-blush si Devon. "Thanks," sabi ni Devon. "Hey!.......................woah! Is that you Devon?" singit ni Sam. "Yeah," natatawang sabi ni Devon. "You look stunning. James will be mezmerised by his beautiful fiancee," sabi ni Sam. "I doubt it, Ann will be here, remember? You two don't look so bad yourselves," sabi ni Devon. "Hehe, thanks. But I always look dashing, it's not a big surprise," ani ni Sam. Nagtawanan ang lahat sa sinabing ito ng binata. "It's time," sambit ni Carina. "You ready future sis?" tanong ni Carina kay Devon with a smile. Tumango si Devon at nginitian si Carina.
"Woah," isip ni James ng makita si Devon. She looks very beautiful in her white Vera Wang dress. "Woah," isip ni Devon ng masilayan si James. He looked handsome in his black tuxedo. (AN: Remember Star Magic Ball?) James absent-mindedly smiled at Devon. Devon smiled back, though she was a bit surprised.
"And you may now kiss the bride," sabi ng pari. James and Devon shared a kiss. People cheered. James and Devon's mom's hugged the newly-wed couple. Their fathers smiled. Kyra and Lauren, both tearing up, hugged Devon while Sam and Ivan congratulated James. The two also hugged Devon. Ivan whispered "Good luck," on Devon's ear. "Thanks," bulong ni Devon.
Sa reception, James and Devon were forced to act sweet. They're forced to smile, to hide what they really feel. To mingle with different people.
Devon went to the backyard to get a bit of fresh air. There were too many people. She felt tired, her face stiff from smiling. She can't even find her husband. But sadly, fresh air wasn't the thing that she got when she went to the backyard. It was heartache. She saw James and Ann kissing. "So much for for better and for worse. All I get is the worse part," Devon said, while wipping her tears. She went back to the reception, smiling, but hurting inside.
"You look so serious Dev," tanong ni Devon. "I'm..... I'm not feeling well," sagot ni Devon. Ivan took her to the garden. "You okay?" tanong ni Ivan. "I'm fine now, thanks," nakangiting sambit ni Devon. "What's wrong?" alalang tanong ni Ivan. "James... I saw him kissing Ann. I don't know why, but it hurts so much," sagot ni Devon, tears threatening to fall from her beautiful eyes. Ivan wiped her tears away. "Shh.... a bride should never be sad on her wedding day. Smile, it suits you more," sabi ni Ivan. Devon smiled at Ivan's sweet words. Ivan hugs Devon. James caught them on that position. He doesn't know why, but his fist curled in anger, seeing Devon with another guy. "What the hell am I doing? I love Ann, I shouldn't be angry," isip ni James at bumalik na sya sa reception.

Chapter 7
"Devon, why are you crying?" tanong ni Lauren. Matapos masigawan ni James, dumiretso agad ang dalaga sa bahay ng kaibigan. "I want to tell you the truth, me and James' relationship, it's not working. He loves Ann. He always shout at me. Para akong basura na palagi nyang nilalait lait," sabi ni Devon sa kaibigan. Di na nya napigilan ang luha. "Shh..." sabi ni Lauren, comforting her friend. Pinaupo nya si Devon sa kama nya at kumuha sya ng tubig para mapakalma si Devon. "Sandali lang Devz ha," sabi nya sa kaibigan. Una nyang tinawagan ang kaibigan na si Kyra. In-explain nya ang lahat. "I'll be there in five minutes," sabi ni Kyra. Sumunod nyang tinawagan si Sam. "Sam can you come over my house right now? Could you ask Ivan to come, too?" tanong ni Lauren. Sa tingin nya malaki ang maiitutulong ng dalawa. "Sure, we'll be there in 10," sabi ni Sam, halata ang pag-aalala sa boses nya. Iba kasi ang tunog ng boses ni Lauren. "OK. Thanks," ang sabi ni Lauren kay Sam bago nya ibaba ang telepono.
"I'm so tired, physically and emotionally. I want to give up," sabi ni Devon kina Lauren at sa kadarating lang na si Kyra. "Hey guys!" bati ng kapapasok lang na si Sam. "Devon! Why are you crying," alalang tanong ni Ivan. Lauren explained what happened. "James did that? To you? He might hate the idea of an arranged marriage, but he's always a gentleman," sabi ni Sam. "Yeah...." ang tanging nabangit ni Ivan. "Our wedding, it's already scheduled. It will be held, three months from now," sabi ni Devon. Nalaman lang din nya kanikanina lang, ng makatanggap sya ng text mula sa kapatid ni James na si Carina. "Would you still continue with the wedding?" tanong ni Ivan, habang nakatingin sa mata ni Devon. "Of course. I won't be selfish. This is for my family. But, tonight, I want to forget everything. I want a ache-free night. Lo, can I crash here?" sabi ni Devon, pinipilit nyang ngumiti, pero di nya kaya. "Sure. Let's sleep on the living room. Guys, wanna sleep here? You can use the two guest rooms," sabi ni Lauren ng walang malisya. Kahit sandali pa lang sila nagkakakilala, magaan ang pakiramdam ni Lauren sa dalawa. Alam nyang walang gagawin na masama ang mga ito. At meron namang katulong sa loob ng bahay kung saka-sakali. "Sure. Good thing I have some spare clothes in the car," sabi ni Sam. Palagi silang may dalang damit ni Ivan, just in case tumirik ang sasakyan nila at kailangan nilang mag-stay sa isang hotel tuwing mahabang biyahe. Sam and Ivan took their bag out of their cars. They watched some movies, and eventually they fell asleep on the sofa. Sam was the only one sleeping on the floor, his head rested on Lauren's thighs. Devon and Kyra fell asleep, their heads resting on Ivan's shoulders.
Devon went back to the condo the next morning. James, drunk, was waiting for her. "You bitch! Where have you been?" tanong ni James, halatang lasing na lasing. "I was at Lauren's house with Kyra and.... others," mahinang sagot ni Devon. "You thought I wouldn't find out eh? I know Sam and Ivan spent their night at your friends house!!" sigaw ni James. Wala sya sa katinuan dahil sa alcohol kaya sinapak nya sa mukha si Devon. He gave another jab on Devon's stomach. "James.... stop, please...." nagmamakaawang sabi ni Devon. Iniwan sya ni James sa lapag. Umalis ito. "Malamang pupunta na naman yun kay Ann...." isip ni Devon.
The next day, katulad ng nakasanayan na nya, naghanda sya ng breakfast para kay James. At palaging nasa oras, matapos nyang magluto ay nagising na rin si James. Nakita nya ang mga pasa sa mukha ni Devon. Nagui-guilty sya, pero wala syang sinabi. Walang gana kumain si Devon kaya iniwan na lang nya sa lamesa ang pagkain at pumunta ng kwarto. Naligo sya at nagbihis. Matapos noon ay naglagay sya ng make-up, para maitago ang malaking pasa sa mukha nya. Paglabas nya, andoon si James, naghuhugas ng pinag-kainan. "Weird..." isip ni Devon. "Hey, I need to talk to you," sabi ni James. "Ni hindi nga ako tinawag sa pangalan ko. Ano ako, aso?" isip ni Devon. "It's about the wedding. Mom asked us to handle this by ourselves. Be home at five. We need to discuss this," sabi ni James na parang walang nangyari. "Okay," ang tanging nasabi ni Devon.
Natapos ang school nila, ng walang pinagsabihan si Devon tungkol sa ginawa ni James sa kanya. Ayaw rin naman nya kasing pag-alalahanin ang mga kaibigan. Umuwi sya ng alas-singko, tulad ng sinabi ni James. Nakita nya si James na naghihintay sa kanya sa may sofa. Naupo rin sya. "Mom said we need to finalize this a month before the wedding. Mom alredy chose our principal sponsors. So we need to choose whose going to be part of the rest of the entourage," sabi ni James. "My best men would be Ivan and Sam," sabi ni James ulit. "My maids of honor... Lauren and Kyra," sabi ni Devon. "Okay," sabi ni James habang isinusulat ang mga pangalan. "Carina and my friend Quen will be our candle sponsor," ani ni James. Nag-uusap sila na parang walang masamang nangyari. Ngayon lang din sila nagkaroon ng mahabang usapan. Matapos nilang pag-usapan ang tungkol sa entourage, pinag-usapan nila ang tungkol sa cake at flowers. "I don't mind any cake flavor, but can I get to pick the flowers?" tanong ni Devon. "Uh.. okay," ang sabi ni James. Ayaw rin naman kasi nyang mamili ng bulaklak. "Lilies, Peonies, Roses and Tulips," sabi ni Devon. "Is Chocolate cake okay?" tanong ni James. "Tinatanong nya opinion ko? Anong nangyari dito ng wala ako?" isip ni Devon pero di nya vinoice out ang mga iniisip. "Sure...." And they spent the rest of the day planning their wedding.

Chapter 6
Ann and James entered the Ice Cream Shop. "What the......" James said, shocked. Sam and Ivan caught James' sight. They are laughing and having fun with Devon and her friends. Ann looked at the direction that James is staring at. "So.... I guess that's Devon huh? Already having an affair with your friends?" Ann asked in a high pitched voice. "I don't give a damn," he murmured. James ordered ice creams for him and Ann. They found no available table. Ann suddenly let go of James' hand and went to Devon's table. "Van! Sam!" she said and kissed their cheeks. "There's no available table, can me and James sit with you guys?" Ann asked sweetly. "Uhh....." Ivan hesitated, taking a side glance to Devon. Devon felt Ivan's gaze. She smiled at him. She nodded a bit. Ivan understood. "Sure," sabi ni Ivan. Ann went to James and pulled his hand. "Come on. I found a seat," sabi ni Ann. James didn't say anything. Ann sat opposite Devon's seat, James seating beside Ann. "Hi! I'm Ann. James' girlfriend. You must be Devon, his fiancee," Ann said with a smirk. "Yeah. That's me," sabi ni Devon with an awkward smile. "Bessie, gusto mo upakan ko? Bruhilda eh," sabi ni Kyra. Ngumiti lang si Devon sa sinabi ng kaibigan. "What did you said?" Ann asked Kyra. "Ah, don't mind me. I'm Kyra by the way. And that's Lauren. We're Devon's BEST FRIENDS," Kyra said, emphasizing on the words 'best friends'. "Nice to meet you two," sabi ni Ann. "Same here," sabi nina Kyra at Lauren ng sabay, fake smiles plastered on their faces. Biglang nagkaroon ng awkward silence. Nang biglang nagsalita si Sam, "You three should come to our concert this friday." Ivan smiled. "Concert?" tanong ni Lauren. "Yeah. Me, James and Sam are in a band with another friend. We're performing on the school's auditorium. I hope you guys could come," sabi ni Ivan. "Sure. We're free this friday," sabi ni Kyra. "Great! We'll save you guys seats in front," sabi ni Sam. Kyra, Devon, Lauren, Sam and Ivan finished their ice-creams. "Bessie, we should find another charm for our friendhip bracelet," Lauren said. "You guys have charm bracelets?" Ann said with a raised eyebrow. "Yeah. It's our friendship bracelet," sabi ni Kyra sabay pakita sa bracelet. This is the first charm, the first letter of our names. Then this cross charm, we got this one when we visited Jerusalem," explain ni Lauren. "Then this one, we got when we went to Singapore, this one in US, this one in France. And this one we bought last year, in celebration of our 18th birthday," sabi naman ni Kyra. "We should definitely buy another charm. Well, we better go ahead. See you guys around," sabi ni Lauren. The others bid goodbye to James and Ann. When only Ann and James were left at the table, Ann asked James, "Why are you so quiet?" James shrugged. "I don't have anything to say, I guess," ang tanging nasabi ng binata.
"Whew, what an awkward situation," sabi ni Lauren. "I totally agree. Wait, I have a question , do you guys like Ann, as a friend I mean," Kyra asked Ivan and Sam. "We're not friends with her," tipid na sagot ni Ivan. "We were never close. Yeah, she's James' girlfriend, but we don't hang out much. Truth to be told, we're annoyed at her. She's always popping out of nowhere," sagot ni Sam. "I don't like her that much. There's something about her... there's this... suspicious aura about her that I really don't like," sabi ni Lauren. "That came from you Lo, the nicest one in us three!!" gulat na sabi ni Kyra. "Hey! She seems nice," sabi naman ni Devon. "Devon, you're too naive girl," sabi ni Kyra. "Let's stop this conversation guys. We should concentrate on finding a cute charm for our bracelet," sabi ni Lauren.
The three found a silver panda charm that looks good with their silver bracelet. The five went shopping, well, the three girls shopped while Ivan and Sam carried their bags. They also went to the arcade. They also took pictures using the camera that Lauren brought. They felt at ease with each other.
"We should do this again sometime," sabi ni Lauren. "Totally! You guys are seriously fun to be with. Crazy people, like us three," sabi ni Kyra. "Sure! Maybe next week?" tanong ni Sam. "How about.. Saturday?" sabi ni Devon. "Saturday it is," sagot naman ni Ivan. "Well, see you guys at school," sabi ni Kyra. They bid goodbye to each other and went home.
Devon arrived at the condo. She saw James, waiting for her. "What are you doing with my friends?" masungit na tanong ng binata. "We saw each other on the mall, then we hang out. That's all," sabi ni Devon, medyo may takot sa binata. "Don't you dare hang-out with them again. Don't talk to them, don't even think about them. They're my friends, my social circle, not yours! You tried to take my life away from me, now my friends!?" sigaw ni James kay Devon. Nasaktan si Devon. Wala na lang syang imik. Pumasok si James sa kwarto, at binagsak nya ang pinto. Dahil sa pagkabigla, di na namalayan ni Devon ang mga luhang tumutulo mula sa mga mata nya.

Chapter 5
One night, James arrived at the condo, drunk. He found Ann kissing a guy, and he went to the nearest bar to drink. "James!" Devon screamed. James passed out in her arms. "Ay jusko!" sabi ni Devon. Hinatak ni Devon si James hanggang sala. Inihiga nya si James sa sofa. "Ano ba naman ang lalaking to. Iinom-inom, di naman pala nya kaya," sabi ni Devon sa hangin. Kumuha si Devon ng towel at basin na nilagyan nya ng tubig. Pupunasan sana ni Devon si James nang biglang syang niyakap nito. "Ann. How could you do this to me? You said you love me. You know I love you," he said. Biglang lumabas na naman ang awa ni Devon sa binata. Pinilit nyang kumawala sa yakap ni James. Pero dahil mas malakas ang binata, hindi makawala si Devon. Kaya natulog silang dalawa sa sofa, ng magkayakap.
James woke up, his head pounding. "Ugh," he moaned. He felt something warm. "Devon?" he murmured. He remembered something. Ann kissing this random dude. Then Devon pulling him to the sofa. "Shit, I thought Devon was Ann," he murmured. He thought about pushing Devon, but he felt guilty. Devon took care of him. James sighed. "I will be nice, just this once," he murmured to himself then he went back to sleep.
Devon woke up. "Jusko, dito na pala ako nakatulog," isip ni Devon. Dahan-dahan syang tumayo sa kinahihigaan at ginawa ang kanyang daily routine. Nagluto na rin sya ng breakfast. Tamang-tama ang gising ni James, dahil handa na ang agahan ng magising ito. "Thank you," sabi ni James kay Devon. Muntikan nang malaglag ni Devon ang hawak na plato sa pagkagulat. Ngayon lang sya pinasalamatan; at kinausap ni James. Ngumiti ang dalaga at tinuloy ang ginagawa.
"Good mood ka ata Devs," sabi ng kaibigan ni Devon na si Kyra. Nasa mall sila, naglalabas ng stress. "Tama. Glowing ka," sabi naman ni Lauren. "Si James kasi eh," sabi ni Devon. "What did my brother do to you ate? Did he raped you?" biglang sulpot ni Carina. "Sorry, I overheard your conversation," paghihngi ng paumanhin ni Carina, sa biglang pagpasok sa usapan ng tatlo. "It's okay. Nah, he said 'thank you' to me for the first time yesterday," sabi ni Devon. "Really? You guys are improving," sabi ni Carina. "Sweet naman," sabi ni Kyra. "Nah, my brother? Sweet? That's like saying that vinegar is sweet. My brother, he's a grumpy old man," sabi ni Carina. "Carina! Let's go," sabi ng kaibigan ni Carina. "My friend AJ is calling me. I have to go, see you guys soon," Carina said then she left. "Tara Devs, Lo, kain tayong ice cream," yaya ni Kyra. "Hey Devon," biglang sabi ng isang pamilyar na boses. "Ivan!" Devon said, smiling. "I haven't seen you in a long time. I never see you around campus," Devon said. "This guy spends his free time sleeping. I'm Sam by the way," sabi ni Sam. "Nice to meet you," sabi ni Devon. "Hey Lauren," sabi ni Sam with a huge smile. "Hey," ani ni Lauren. "You guys know each other?" tanong ni Ivan sa kaibigan. "Yup, we meet at the library before," sabi ni Sam. "Well, this is Kyra and Lauren, my best friends. Guys, this is Ivan, and Sam," pagpapakilala ni Devon. They chatted a bit. Sam asked, "So... where are you girls going?" "Ah. We thought about getting some ice cream..." sagot ni Lauren sa tanong ng binata. "Can we come with you?" tanong ni Ivan. "Sure," sagot ni Kyra with a smile. "Kay gwapo naman ni Ivan," isip ni Kyra.
Meanwhile, James was strolling around the mall with Ann. Ann said that she was drunk that night that's why she kissed another guy. James loved her, so he belived her. "Huh?" James murmured. "Hon, what's wrong?" Ann said, batting her eyelashes. "Nothing," James replied. He thought he saw Ivan and Sam with Devon and her friends, pero inisip na lang nya na namalik-mata lang sya.
"So, I will order for you guys, what do you want?" tanong ni Ivan. "You'll treat us dude?" tanong ni Sam, playfully. "Hmmmm.... sure, as a mark of new found friendship," sabi ni Ivan with a smile. "Haha. Well.... I want a Triple Caramel Chunk," sabi ni Sam. "A Chunky Monkey for me," sabi ni Lauren. "I want a Mint Chocolate," sabi naman ni Kyra. "Hmmm.... a Chocolate Macadamia for me," sabi naman ni Devon. Ivan went to the counter to order and Sam went to help him carry the cones. "They're so nice and funny," sabi ni Lauren. "Oo nga. Pero Lo, masyado kang halata. Kanina ka pa nakatitig kay Sam eh..." sabi ni Kyra with a giggle. "Di ah....." Lauren said, blushing. "Uy...nagblush sya," pang-aasar pa ni Devon. "Di ah. I don't blush," sabi ni Lauren sabay hawak sa cheeks nya."Uh huh. Girl sobrang kapani-paniwala ka," Kyra said sarcasticly.Hinampas ni Lauren si Kyra lightly. "Free Ice cream delivery," sabi ni Sam habang inaabot ang dalang ice-cream cones. "Thank you," sabi ng mga girls. Sam sat besides Lauren, who sat eside Kyra, who sat beside Ivan. Devon was left with no other choice but to sit between Ivan and Sam.

James woke up, his head pounding. "Ugh," he moaned. He felt something warm. "Devon?" he murmured. He remembered something. Ann kissing this random dude. Then Devon pulling him to the sofa. "Shit, I thought Devon was Ann," he murmured. He thought about pushing Devon, but he felt guilty. Devon took care of him. James sighed. "I will be nice, just this once," he murmured to himself then he went back to sleep.
Devon woke up. "Jusko, dito na pala ako nakatulog," isip ni Devon. Dahan-dahan syang tumayo sa kinahihigaan at ginawa ang kanyang daily routine. Nagluto na rin sya ng breakfast. Tamang-tama ang gising ni James, dahil handa na ang agahan ng magising ito. "Thank you," sabi ni James kay Devon. Muntikan nang malaglag ni Devon ang hawak na plato sa pagkagulat. Ngayon lang sya pinasalamatan; at kinausap ni James. Ngumiti ang dalaga at tinuloy ang ginagawa.
"Good mood ka ata Devs," sabi ng kaibigan ni Devon na si Kyra. Nasa mall sila, naglalabas ng stress. "Tama. Glowing ka," sabi naman ni Lauren. "Si James kasi eh," sabi ni Devon. "What did my brother do to you ate? Did he raped you?" biglang sulpot ni Carina. "Sorry, I overheard your conversation," paghihngi ng paumanhin ni Carina, sa biglang pagpasok sa usapan ng tatlo. "It's okay. Nah, he said 'thank you' to me for the first time yesterday," sabi ni Devon. "Really? You guys are improving," sabi ni Carina. "Sweet naman," sabi ni Kyra. "Nah, my brother? Sweet? That's like saying that vinegar is sweet. My brother, he's a grumpy old man," sabi ni Carina. "Carina! Let's go," sabi ng kaibigan ni Carina. "My friend AJ is calling me. I have to go, see you guys soon," Carina said then she left. "Tara Devs, Lo, kain tayong ice cream," yaya ni Kyra. "Hey Devon," biglang sabi ng isang pamilyar na boses. "Ivan!" Devon said, smiling. "I haven't seen you in a long time. I never see you around campus," Devon said. "This guy spends his free time sleeping. I'm Sam by the way," sabi ni Sam. "Nice to meet you," sabi ni Devon. "Hey Lauren," sabi ni Sam with a huge smile. "Hey," ani ni Lauren. "You guys know each other?" tanong ni Ivan sa kaibigan. "Yup, we meet at the library before," sabi ni Sam. "Well, this is Kyra and Lauren, my best friends. Guys, this is Ivan, and Sam," pagpapakilala ni Devon. They chatted a bit. Sam asked, "So... where are you girls going?" "Ah. We thought about getting some ice cream..." sagot ni Lauren sa tanong ng binata. "Can we come with you?" tanong ni Ivan. "Sure," sagot ni Kyra with a smile. "Kay gwapo naman ni Ivan," isip ni Kyra.
Meanwhile, James was strolling around the mall with Ann. Ann said that she was drunk that night that's why she kissed another guy. James loved her, so he belived her. "Huh?" James murmured. "Hon, what's wrong?" Ann said, batting her eyelashes. "Nothing," James replied. He thought he saw Ivan and Sam with Devon and her friends, pero inisip na lang nya na namalik-mata lang sya.
"So, I will order for you guys, what do you want?" tanong ni Ivan. "You'll treat us dude?" tanong ni Sam, playfully. "Hmmmm.... sure, as a mark of new found friendship," sabi ni Ivan with a smile. "Haha. Well.... I want a Triple Caramel Chunk," sabi ni Sam. "A Chunky Monkey for me," sabi ni Lauren. "I want a Mint Chocolate," sabi naman ni Kyra. "Hmmm.... a Chocolate Macadamia for me," sabi naman ni Devon. Ivan went to the counter to order and Sam went to help him carry the cones. "They're so nice and funny," sabi ni Lauren. "Oo nga. Pero Lo, masyado kang halata. Kanina ka pa nakatitig kay Sam eh..." sabi ni Kyra with a giggle. "Di ah....." Lauren said, blushing. "Uy...nagblush sya," pang-aasar pa ni Devon. "Di ah. I don't blush," sabi ni Lauren sabay hawak sa cheeks nya."Uh huh. Girl sobrang kapani-paniwala ka," Kyra said sarcasticly.Hinampas ni Lauren si Kyra lightly. "Free Ice cream delivery," sabi ni Sam habang inaabot ang dalang ice-cream cones. "Thank you," sabi ng mga girls. Sam sat besides Lauren, who sat eside Kyra, who sat beside Ivan. Devon was left with no other choice but to sit between Ivan and Sam.

Chapter 4
"I'm so sorry," sabi ni Devon sa nabunggo nya. "It's okay. I'm at fault, too," sabi ng nabunggo nya. "I'm really sorry," sabi ni Devon bago sya kumaripas muli ng takbo.
Buti na lang at wala pa ang professor nila ng makarating sya sa klase. "Thank God," bulong ni Devon.
Nang matapos ang klase ay pumunta si Devon sa parking lot. Hinahanap nya ang sasakyan ni James. "Miss Devon good afternoon," sabi ng Driver nila. "Good afternoon Mr. Thomas," sabi ni Devon sa driver. "No need to call me mister Miss Devon, everybody calls me Butler Thomas," sabi ng ginoo. "Okay then, butler Thomas it is," sabi ni Devon. "Well, I'll see you tomorrow hon," narinig nyang sabi ng isang babae. Paglingon nya, nakita nya si James kasama ang isang babae. "Siguro sya yung Ann," isip ni Devon. Pumasok na lang sya sa sasakyan. Sumakay na rin si James makalipas ang ilan minuto. "Good afternoon Sir James," sabi ni butler Thomas. "Good afternoon butler Thomas," ang sagot ng binata. Pero hindi man lang nya binati si Devon. "Kahit tingin nga wala," isip ni Devon. Nagmasid na naman sya sa bintana ng sasakyan. May nakita syang magkasintahan na magkahawak ang kamay at nagtatawanan. "Buti pa sila masaya," bulong ni Devon sa hangin. Pero narinig sya ni James, pero pinagwalang bahala na lang ito ng binata.
Pagkadating ng bahay ay nagbihis lang si James at lumabas agad ng bahay. "Aahhh.... mag-isa naman ang drama ko ngayon," Devon said with a sigh. She prepared a simple dinner. Nagtabi rin sya incase na hindi pa nag-dinner si James. Dun na nakatulog sa sofa si Devon sa kahihintay kay James.
Pasado alas-tres na nung maka-uwi si James. "Why the hell did this girl slept here?" tanong ni James sa sarili. Nagdadalawang isip si James kung gigisingin nya o bubuhatin nya o hahayaan na lang si Devon. "That's the girl who's going to ruin my life," isip ni James. Hinayaan na lang nya si Devon. "She deserves that," dahilan ni James sa sarili. Pag-punta nya sa kusina, nakita ni James na tinirhan sya ni Devon ng pag-kain, pero hindi rin nya pinansin ito. Nagtuloy-tuloy sya sa kwarto nya. Hindi na sya nagpalit ng damit, at dire-diretsong natulog.
Maaga na naman nagising si Devon. At naghanda sya ng breakfast para sa kanilang dalawa ni James. Pagbaba ng binata, wala itong sinabi sa dalaga. Wala kahit 'good morning' man lang. They both ate in silence. "Hurry up, I don't want to be late," ang unang mga salitang narinig ni Devon mula kay James ng araw na yun.
Days passed at ganun pa rin ang pakikitungo ni James kay Devon. Si Devon naman ay unti-unting nahuhulog ang loob kay James, at hindi nya alam kung bakit. "Hay, pinainom mo ba ako ng gayuma? Ano bang ginawa mo sa akin. Nakakainis ka. Ang lamig-lamig mo sa akin, pero ganito pa rin ang nararamdaman ko. Ano ba to!!!" sigaw ni Devon, isang sabado na wala si James sa condo at mag-isa lang si Devon. "Di na maganda to. Kinakausap ko na ang sarili ko," sabi ni Devon sa sarili. Kinuha nya ang telepono at tinawagan ang mga kaibigan.

Pagbukas nya ng pinto andun si Kyra, nakatodo make-up pa. "Namen. Bigla-bigla kayong tumatawag, di tuloy ako masyadong nakapag-prepare!" sabi ni Kyra. "Di ka pa nakapag-prepare sa lagay na yan ha," Devon commented with a raised eyebrow. "Saan ba lakad natin?" tanong ni Kyra. "Watch daw tayo ng Transformers sabi ni Lauren," Devon murmured. "I found my keys! Let's go," Lauren said in a giddy tone.
"First time natin magbo-bonding since dumating tayo dito," sabi ni Lauren, looking at her friends. "Oo nga. Look, hot Aussie guys," sabi ni Kyra na nakatingin sa tatlong Australian guys. "Loka! Engaged na si Devz, ikaw talaga!" sabi ni Lauren sa kaibigan. "Ate Devon?" sabi ng isang pamilyar na boses. Paglingon ni Devon ay nakita nya ang kapatid ni James na si Carina. "Hi Carina," Devon said sweetly. Gusto nya ang kapatid ni James. Mukha itong mabait. "I was right. Hi ate Kyra, ate Lauren. How are you guys?" tanong ni Carina. "We're good. You?" sabi ni Devon. "I'm good. I'm trying to study Tagalog. Medyo mahirap, but I'm trying my best. I hope my brother doesn't give you a hard time," sabi ni Carina with a sweet smile. "Thoughtful naman tong batang to. Ibang iba sa kapatid nya," isip ni Devon. "Nah. you're brother is okay. Good luck with your Tagalog. If you need any help, you know where to find me," sabi ni Devon sa future sister-in law. "Thank you ate Devon. Ikaw bahala na sa brother ko. Pesensya if he's being too annoying or stupid. Ganun talaga sya," sabi ni Carina, trying her best na magsalita ng Tagalog. "I'll take care of your brother. Don't worry," sabi ni Devon. They bade their goodbyes at bumili na ang tatlo ng tickets at pumasok na sa loob ng sinehan.
Nasa kaligitnaan sila ng movie ng biglang tumunog ang cellphone ni Devon. Nagpaalam muna sya sa mga kaibigan bago lumabas ng sinehan para sagutin ang tawag. Prank caller lang naman pala ang tumawag kay Devon. Pabalik na si Devon nag may mabunggo sya. "It's you again," sabi ng isang pamilyar na boses. Pagtingin nya, ang nabunggo nya ay walang iba kundi ang nabuggo nya sa campus dati. "I'm sorry, again," Devon apologized. "Nah, it's okay. I haven't introduced myself properly, I'm Ivan Dorschner," pagpapakilala ng binata. "Devon Seron," sabi ng dilag. "Nice to finally able talk to you," sabi ni Ivan na ipinagtaka ni Devon. Nang itanong ng dalaga kung ano ang ibig sabihin ng binata, "Ah, you see, I'm one of James' bud," ang matipid na explenasyon ng binata. "Ah....." ang tanging naisagot ni Devon. "Hey, I know James is giving you a hard time. Don't mind him. Sooner or later, he will show his true self. With a pretty fiancee like you. Well, I have to go. See you around Devon," sabi ni Ivan at matapos nito ay nawala ito kasing bilis ng hangin.

Chapter 3
"So... that's your fiancee eh," sabi ng kaibigan ni James na si Sam. Nakaupo sila sa ilalim ng puno, ang madalas nilang tambayan. Pinag mamasdan nila si Devon na nasa ilalim ng kalapit na puno. Mukha namang di sila napapansin ng dalaga. "She's pretty," sabi ni Ivan, isa pang kaibigan ni James. "Yeah. Her skin is dark. You like dark-skinned girls, right James?" sabi ni Sam, habang nginingitian ang kaibigan. "I used to like dark-skinned girls," sabi ni James, emphasizing on the word 'used'. Biglang lumapit sina Kyra at Lauren kay Devon. Nag-usap sila sandali at matapos ay umalis na rin ang tatlo. "Who are those two pretty ladies earlier?" tanong ni Sam, ang official chickboy ng barkada. "They're Kyra and Lauren. Her friends," matipid na sagot ni James. "James!!!" tili ni Ann. James smiled. Ann. His gorgeous girlfriend. Ambitious. Pretty. Smart. Wala na syang hihilingin pa. "Hey hon," sabi ni James. She kissed his lips. "Get a room guys," sabi ni Sam. "You're just jealous," sabi ni James with a smile. "Nu-uh. Well, I better go now. I have a report to finish," sabi ni Sam. "You're such a geek," sabi ni James sa kaibigan. "It's better to be a handsome geek than an ugly slacker like you," sabi ni Sam sabay takbo. Ivan just shook his head sa mga pinaggagawa ng mga kaibigan.
"Where's that book?" bulong ni Sam. "Aha! There it is," isip nya. Kanina pa nya kasi hinahanap yung libro na yun. Sa kasamaang palad may nauna na sa kanya. Naglapat pa nga ang kamay nila, kaya lang nauna ng isang segundo ang kaagaw nya sa libro. "Ah, I'm sorry. You can have it," sabi ng babae na di nya kilala ang boses. Pag tingin nya, ito pala ang kaibigan ni Devon sa si Lauren. "Nah, you grabbed it first, you can have it," sabi ni Sam sa babae. "She looks really pretty," isip ni Sam. "You sure? You seem to need this bad," sabi ng babae. "Yeah. I need it for Mrs. White's. But it's okay, I can find another book," sabi ni Sam. "Why don't we share this then? I need this for Mrs White's essay too," sabi ng dalaga. "Sure. I'm Sam by the way," sabi ng binata sa magandang dilag. "I'm Lauren," sabi ng dalaga. "I know," sabi ni Sam with a mysterious smile. "How do you know my name?" tanong ni Lauren. "James told me you're name. I'm one of his bed buds," sabi ni Sam. "James Reid?" tanong ni Lauren. "Yeah, I already know his and Devon Seron's set-up," sabi ni Sam. "Ah, I see. So let's get started on the essay?" sabi ni Lauren, dazzling Sam with her smile. "Sure," sabi ng binata.
After ng fourth period, oras na para sa lunch break nila. "Buti na lang at pareho tayo ng classes so pareho din ang lunch break natin," sabi ni Kyra. "Oo nga," sabi ni Lauren, with a dreamy expression. "Hep, sabihin mo na. Sino yang guy na nakilala mo today," sabi ni Kyra habang nakapila sila sa cafeteria. "Huh? Sinong may sabi na may nakilala akong guy?" tanong ni Lauren with a guilty look. "Asus. Ilang taon na tayong magkakaibigan, wala ka na sigurong pwede pang itago mula sa amin," sabi ni Devon. "Okay fine. May nakilala ako, kanina sa library," sabi ni Lauren. "And........" sabi ni Kyra habang nagbabayad para sa pagkain. They found an available table at doon sila naupo. "Sam yung name nya. Friend sya nung fiancee mo Devs," sabi ni Lauren. "Speaking of the fiancee, kumusta naman yung pagstay mo sa condo nya?" Kyra asked with a naughty gleam in her eyes. "Okay naman. Di kami masyadong nag-usap, pero mukha naman syang mabait," Devon said. "I am not lying. Di naman talaga kami masyadong nag-usap at kung titingnan sa panglabas na anyo, mukha naman talagang mabait si James. Kaya lang pag kaming dalawa na lang, nawawala ang pagiging mabait nya," isip ni Devon. They spent the rest of their break, talking about well, everything. Then the bell rang. "Oh my god. Una na ako. I heard terror daw yung proffesor sa susunod kong class eh," sabi ni Devon at nagmamadali syang tumakbo. Di inaasahan na may nabungo sya.
"Where's that book?" bulong ni Sam. "Aha! There it is," isip nya. Kanina pa nya kasi hinahanap yung libro na yun. Sa kasamaang palad may nauna na sa kanya. Naglapat pa nga ang kamay nila, kaya lang nauna ng isang segundo ang kaagaw nya sa libro. "Ah, I'm sorry. You can have it," sabi ng babae na di nya kilala ang boses. Pag tingin nya, ito pala ang kaibigan ni Devon sa si Lauren. "Nah, you grabbed it first, you can have it," sabi ni Sam sa babae. "She looks really pretty," isip ni Sam. "You sure? You seem to need this bad," sabi ng babae. "Yeah. I need it for Mrs. White's. But it's okay, I can find another book," sabi ni Sam. "Why don't we share this then? I need this for Mrs White's essay too," sabi ng dalaga. "Sure. I'm Sam by the way," sabi ng binata sa magandang dilag. "I'm Lauren," sabi ng dalaga. "I know," sabi ni Sam with a mysterious smile. "How do you know my name?" tanong ni Lauren. "James told me you're name. I'm one of his bed buds," sabi ni Sam. "James Reid?" tanong ni Lauren. "Yeah, I already know his and Devon Seron's set-up," sabi ni Sam. "Ah, I see. So let's get started on the essay?" sabi ni Lauren, dazzling Sam with her smile. "Sure," sabi ng binata.
After ng fourth period, oras na para sa lunch break nila. "Buti na lang at pareho tayo ng classes so pareho din ang lunch break natin," sabi ni Kyra. "Oo nga," sabi ni Lauren, with a dreamy expression. "Hep, sabihin mo na. Sino yang guy na nakilala mo today," sabi ni Kyra habang nakapila sila sa cafeteria. "Huh? Sinong may sabi na may nakilala akong guy?" tanong ni Lauren with a guilty look. "Asus. Ilang taon na tayong magkakaibigan, wala ka na sigurong pwede pang itago mula sa amin," sabi ni Devon. "Okay fine. May nakilala ako, kanina sa library," sabi ni Lauren. "And........" sabi ni Kyra habang nagbabayad para sa pagkain. They found an available table at doon sila naupo. "Sam yung name nya. Friend sya nung fiancee mo Devs," sabi ni Lauren. "Speaking of the fiancee, kumusta naman yung pagstay mo sa condo nya?" Kyra asked with a naughty gleam in her eyes. "Okay naman. Di kami masyadong nag-usap, pero mukha naman syang mabait," Devon said. "I am not lying. Di naman talaga kami masyadong nag-usap at kung titingnan sa panglabas na anyo, mukha naman talagang mabait si James. Kaya lang pag kaming dalawa na lang, nawawala ang pagiging mabait nya," isip ni Devon. They spent the rest of their break, talking about well, everything. Then the bell rang. "Oh my god. Una na ako. I heard terror daw yung proffesor sa susunod kong class eh," sabi ni Devon at nagmamadali syang tumakbo. Di inaasahan na may nabungo sya.
Chapter 2
Nalaman ni Devon na hindi sya titira sa bahay ng mga Reid. Titira sya sa condo ni James. Malapit lang naman ito sa bahay ng mga Reid kaya walang problema.
Sa harap ng mga magulang ni James, maayos ang pakikitungo ng binata sa dalaga. Pero biglang nag-iba ito nung nakarating sila sa condo. Ibinagsak bigla ni James ang maleta ni Devon pagpasok nila sa condo. Hindi na sila hinatid pa hanggang loob para raw makapag-usap at magkakilala daw ng maayos ang dalawa. "I don't care who you are. I am doing this for my family, so don't expect me to love you," galit na sabi ni James. Si Devon naman ay nalilito kung bakit ganoon na lang kalaki ang galit ni James sa kanya. Dahil sa hiya ay nanahimik na lang si Devon. "And don't expect to sleep in the same room with me. You'll stay in the guestroom. Oh, and by the way, I already have a girlfriend, so don't act as if you own me," ang sabi ni James at pumasok na ito sa kwarto nya. Huminga ng malalim si Devon bago ipasok ang maleta nya sa guest room na itinuro ni James. Iniayos nya ang mga gamit nya, pati na rin ang mga bagong gamit na bigay sa kanya ng mga Reid. Binigyan sya ng bagong laptop ng mga magulang ni James. Curling iron naman ang nattangap nyang regalo mula kay Carina. At kwintas naman mula kay James. Birthday nya kasi ngayon. Pero hindi nya inaakala na ito na pala ang pinaka-malungkot nyang birthday. "Happy 19th birthday to me," bulong nya sa sarili.
Kinabukasan ay maagang nagising si Devon. Naligo na sya at nagbihis dahil ngayon ang unang araw nya sa paaralan ni James. One hour pa bago sila umalis pero nakahanda na si Devon. Nagluto rin sya ng agahan para sa kanya at sa 'fiancee' nya. Saktong pagkahanda nya ng pagkain ay lumabos ng kwarto si James. Halatang bagong ligo ito dahil basa ang buhok. Umupo ito at kumain ng walang kahit anong salita na sinabi kay Devon. Si Devon din ay kumain ng tahimik. Nagulat silang pareho at halos mahulog sa kinauupuan si Devon ng marinig nya ang teleponong tumunog. Tumayo si Devon para sagutin ang telepono. "Hello," narinig ni Devon ang boses ng isang babae. "Hello. Who is this?" tanong ni Devon. "This is Ann Li, James' girlfriend. Who are you?" tanong ng babae sa kabilang linya. "Wait a minute," ang tanging nasabi ni Devon. Nilapag nya ang telepono at lumapit kay James. "Phone call for you. Someone named Ann Li," sabi ni Devon sa mahinang boses. Nagmamadaling tumayo si James sa kinauupuan at kinuha ang telepono. "It's the first time I heard him laugh," isip ni Devon. "Siguro yun yung girlfriend nya," isip ni Devon. Nakita ni Devon na naubos ni James ang hinanda nyang pagkain. Napangiti sya. Niligpit nya ang pinagkainan nila. Matapos nyang maghugas ay eksakto naman na ibinaba ni James ang telepono. "Hurry up, we're going to be late for school," sabi ni James. Nagmadali sa Devon sa takot na iwan sya ni James. Sumakay si Devon sa sasakyan ng pamilya ni James. Nakilala nya ang driver kagabi. Ang pangalan nya ay Thomas. Matanda na ang driver nila. "Good morning Ms. Devon," bati sa kanya ng driver. "Good morning sir Thomas," bati ni Devon sa driver na may kasamang ngiti. Naupo sya sa tabi ni James, nakatingin sya sa may bintana. "Ganda pala talaga ng Australia," bulong ni Devon. Napalingon si James sa kanya. Kahit paano naman ay nakakaintindi si James ng tagalog. "Her smile is pretty," isip ni James. "But I can't pity her. She's the one whose going to ruin my life," isip nya. At iniiwas nya ang tingin kay Devon.

"What!? Arrange marriage!?" sigaw ni Devon. Ibinalita kasi sa kanya ng mama nya na ipapakasal sya sa lalaking di nya kilala, ngayong labing-walong taon gulang na sya. Siya si Devon Seron. Ang pamlya nya ay kilala sa larangan ng negosyo at maraming bagay. "Yes. Anak sya ng best friend ko. Napag-usapan na namin ito nung high school kami. Nakapangako na ako," ani ng ina ni Devon na si Shaina. "Ganun na lang ba kadali para sa'yo na sirain ang buhay ko ma? Dahil sa isang promise maraming taon na ang nakalipas? Malamang nakalimutan na yun ng bestfriend mo ma!" sabi ni Devon. "No. Kakatawag nga lang nya sa akin. Nakausap na daw nya ang anak nyang si James at pumayag na ito," sabi ni Shaina. "Malamang pangit yun kya madaling napapayag. Malamang walang love life," isip ni Devon. Di na lang nya sinabi dahil alam nyang pagagalitan lang sya ng ina nya. Wala na lang syang sinabi at nagdabog na lang sya pabalik sa kwarto nya.
Sa Australia naman, may isang lalaki na nagiisip. "Arrange marriage....," bulong nya sa hangin. Alam nya na isa sa tungkulin nya bilang nakakatandang lalaki sa pamilya niya ay pakasalan ang babaeng may yaman at kapangyarihan para lumago ang negosyo nila. Hindi pa nya nakikilala kahit isang beses ang mapapangasawa nya. Ni hindi pa nga nya nakita ang hitsura nito. Ang alam lang nya ay ang pangalan nito. "Devon Seron....." bulong nya ulit sa hangin. Kumunot ang noo ng binata. Alam naman kasi ng mga magulang nya na nasa issang relasyon sya. Ann ang pangalan ng girlfriend nya. At wala syang balak hiwalayan ito, anumang mangyari.
Ito ang araw na makikilala nila ang isa't isa. Lumipad papuntang Australia si Devon, at makikitira sya kasama ang pamilya ng mapapangasawa nya. Manananitili naman sa hotel ang magulang ni Devon. Dun na rin siya mag-aaral sa Australia ng isang taon, para daw makilala nya ang mapapangasawa nya at ang pamilya nito. Kasama rin nyang mag-aaral duon sa Australia ang dalawang kaibigan nyang sina Kyra at Lauren. Mayayaman rin ang mga ito at may property ang pamilya ni Lauren malapit sa titirhan niya. Nakarating na rin sila sa bahay ng mapapangasawa nya at ng pamilya nito. Pinaupo sila sa sala. Naunang bumaba ang isang babae. "Good afternoon," sabi ng babae at ngumiti ito. "I'm Carina. James' younger sister," sabi ng babae. "Hi," ang tanging nasabi ni Devon. Niyakap sya ni Carina. "It's nice to meet you. You're as pretty as I expected," sabi ni Carina. "Thank you," namumulang sabi ni Devon. Pinakilala nya ang mga magulang at kaibigan nya. Bumaba na sunod ang mga magulang nina Carina at James. "Good afternoon sir, mam," bati ni Devon. "You shouldn't call us sir and mam. You can call me aunt Maja or auntie for now. And after marriage, you can call me mama, if you're comfortable with that," sabi ng ina ni James. "Okay auntie," sabi ni Devon. "And you can call me Uncle John or uncle," sabi naman ng ama ni James. "Yes uncle," ang tanging nasambit ni Devon. "Shaina!" sabi ni Maja. "Antagal na natin hindi nagkita Maj," sabi ni Shaina. Kahit matagal ng hindi nagkita ang magkaibigan, halata pa rin ang aura ng pagkakaibigan sa dalawa.
At sa wakas, bumaba na rin si James. "Good afternoon uncle, auntie," bati ni James sa magulang ni Devon. At binati rin ng magulang ni Devon si James. "It's nice to finally meet you Devon," sabi ni James sa kanya, nakangiti. Lupapit ito at akmang bubulong sa tenga nya. "So you're the one who's going to ruin my life," bulong ni James kay Devon. Lumayo ito at ngumiti na parang wala syang masamang sinabi. Nanahimik na lang si Devon.
