Chapter 10

"Good morning Lady Devon," said a girl her age. "Call me Devon, I don't want anybody calling me lady," sabi ni Devon. "Lady, it's not right for us to call you by your name. Breakfast is ready Lady Devon," sabi ng servant. "Wait, how old are you?" tanong ni Devon. "I'm 19 Lady Devon," sabi ng servant. "Ooooh... same age as me," sabi ni Devon. "What's your name?" tanong muli ni Devon. "I'm Fretzie, Lady Devon," ani ni Fretzie. Maganda sya, tsinita. "Are you Australian," chika nya kay Fretzie. "No, Lady. I'm filipina," sabi ni Fretzie. "Marunong kong magtagalog? Tsaka taga-saan ka?" tanong ni Devon. "Marunong po. Taga-Cebu po ako Lady Devon," sagot ni Fretzie. "Ano ka ba, wag mo nga akong i-po. Magkaedad naman tayo eh," sabi ni Devon. Hinatak nya si Fretzie at niyayang samahan sya sa breakfast, kasi tulog pa si James. Nung una ay umaayaw pa si Fretzie, pero dahil sa pangungulit ni Devon ay napapayag nya ito.

"I have to do my job Lady Devon," sabi ni Fretzie. "Lady Devon ka dyan. Sabi ko sayo Devon na lang. Wag kang mag-alala, di ka pagagalitan, sagot nga kita diba? Sige ka magtatampo ako sayo nyan," sabi ni Devon with a pout. "Sige na, Devon na nga lang," sabi ni Fretzie with a smile.

"Lady-- I mean, Devon, you're friend is waiting for you downstairs," sabi ni Fretzie. "Okay, thanks," sabi ni Devon. She went to get dressed in a simple white sundress. She went downstairs, hoping to see Lauren and Kyra downstairs, but what she saw surprised her. "Quen!" sigaw ni Devon. "Devon..." sabi ni Quen. Nagyakapan ang magkaibigan.

James woke up from his slumber when he heard Devon's voice. He changed into a simple polo shirt and jeans. "What's going on?" he asked one of the servants. "A friend of Lady Devon arrived sir," sabi ng servant. "Friend?" James asked. "Yes sir. A person named Enrique," sabi ng servant. "A guy..... inside our own house," sabi ni James sa sarili.

Bumaba sya at nadatnan sina Devon at Quen, nagyayakapan. He just watched as the two are tightly embracing. He saw the way Quen hugged his wife, the way he look at her, the way he smiled at her.

"Quen! I missed you so much!" sabi ni Devon sa half- Pinoy half-American nyang kaibigan. "I missed you too, Devon," sambit naman ni Quen. "I sent you an invitation to my wedding...." sabi ni Devon. "Sorry Devon-von, I've been busy.. with me taking over the company and such..." sagot ni Quen. "I understand..." Devon said with a sweet smile.

Di naman nila napansin ang isang lalaki sa may hagdan na kung makatingin akala mo papatay. James clenched his fist because of the two oblivious people in front of him. "Ehem-ehem," James faked cough. The two turned around. They saw a blank-faced James walking towards them. "I think it's the first time we're gonna met, Mr....." sabi ni James. "Gil. I'm Enrique Gil. A very good friend of Devon's. Just call me Enrique," sabi ni Quen sa kaharap na binata. "I'm James, Devon's HUSBAND," James said, emphasizing the word husband. "Funny, you said you're a good friend of my wife, but I've never heard her mention you before," dagdag pa ni James. "Hmm... well, I guess you don't know many things about her, considering that I've been her friend for seventeen years," Quen said with a smirk.

Nararamdaman ni Devon ang tensyon sa pagitan ng dalawa. "Quen, do you want to stay here for the night? Andami natin na dapat pag-usapan," aya ni Devon sa kaibigan. Nintindihan naman nni James ang sinabi ng dalaga kaya di na nya pinigilan. "As long as he doesn't do anything improper to her. Or else...." isip ni James.

Nagpunta sina Quen at Devon sa may veranda at doon nag-usap. "How's Sophie?" tanong ni Devon. "She's okay. But she misses you alot," sabi ni Quen kay Devon, may malungkot na ngiti sa kanyang labi. "I miss her too. Ikaw ha, wag na wag mong pababayaan si Sophie ha. Malalagot ka sa akin!" sabi ni Devon, nakatingin sa mga mata ni Quen. "Yes maam!" sabi ni Quen, at nagtawanan ang dalawa.

"What the hell are those two talking about?" inis na tanong ni James. "Why does he have to look and smile at my wife like that?" ani ni James sa sarili habang tinitingnan ng masama si Enrique.

"Sophie wants to visit you tommorow. Nasa bahay sya ngayon ni mama. Pero bukas dalawin ka raw nya dito," Quen informed Devon. Niyakap ni Devon si Quen sa sobrang saya. "Really? Na miss ko na si Sophie!" sabi ni Devon, di nya maitago ang napakalaki nyang ngiti.

Napatayo naman si James sa upuan nya ng makita nyang niyakap ni Devon si Enrique. He curled his fist. "I don't want to see this," sabi nya sa sarili at pumasok sa kwarto nya. He layed down on his bed and tried to think about his real feelings to Devon.

Sorry ang tagal kong mag-update. As I said in my FB, every holidays, fridays and weekends lang akong may access sa net kaya every week lang ang update ko lately...

I'm inspired to write right now kaya malapit ko nang matapos isulat ang next chapter :)
