Chapter 14

"What the f*ck did you do to Devon!" sigaw ni Ivan at sinapak nya si James. "She didn't attend her class," sabi ni Ivan. Wala namang sinabi si James. "Tsk! Your wife is missing and you don't say anything! F*ck you!" sabi ni Ivan. "If I find her, I won't bring her back to you. I will keep her and heal her wounds. Wounds that you've created," sabi ni Ivan at nagmamadali itong umalis upang hanapin si Devon.

James went home. There was no sign of Devon.....

Night came. The mansion felt empty. Lonely. He felt empty.

Devon was sitting on the beach. For how long she was there, she didn't know. "Devon..." a familiar voice said. She felt arms wrapped around her. "I was so worried. Don't do that again okay? At least tell me where your going," sabi ni Ivan. She actually hoped it was James. She felt a tear rolled down her cheek. "Ivan, I have a favor to ask. Can you take me far away, away from here. Away from him..... I'm begging you. I'm begging you," sabi ni Devon. Ivan tightened his hug. "I will. I will take you far away from him," sagot ni Ivan. "Thank you Ivan. Thank you......" sabi ni Devon.

Devon was missing for a week now. James doesn't know anything about Devon's whereabouts. After a week, he received some documents. It was divorce papers with Devon's sign. There was a note.

James,
   I feel so tired now. I don't know what to do anymore. So I want to escape. I'm finally giving you the freedom you want. Just sign the documents please. Let's end this, because I feel so tired now.... I'm giving up.

James thought about it. He know he was being selfish, not letting Devon go. "I don't love her," he reminded himself. "But what the hell is this feeling...?" tanong nya sa sarili.

Ivan watched Devon. She's been spending her time in Ivan's family's rest house. It was peaceful there. She felt relaxed, watching the sea. But she couldn't help to feel sad. As she remembered everything that happened, tears just won't stop falling. Ivan came near to Devon. "Devon, I want to say something, that I've been keeping a secret for quite a long time now," sabi ni Ivan. Nakikinig naman ng maiigi si Devon. "Devon, I like you," pag-amin ni Ivan. "Ivan...I....I..." di makasagot si Devon. "I know you don't see me that way. But, I'm willing to wait. As long as forever, I'm willing to wait," sabi ni Ivan. Devon touched his cheek. "Thank you Ivan. For everything. I don't know when these wounds will completely heal, but when I can finally trust and love completely again, I'm sure it will be you Ivan....." sabi ni Devon. "As I said, I'm willing to wait. So take your time, I will right here by your side, helping you heal those wounds. I won't stop being your guardian. One day, I know you can completely untangle yourself from him. And until that day comes, I'll be your guardian......" bulong ni Ivan. "Thank you Ivan..."
