Chapter 21

They arrived at the church. But the ceremony hasn't started yet. Ivan was nowhere to be found.

"Nasaan na si Ivan?" Devon asked her parents na kasama nya sa sasakyan. "Wala pa raw si Ivan..." sabi ng ina nya. Lauren knocked on the window of Devon's bridal car. "Wala si Ivan. Maybe he's having cold feet," Lauren said. Devon was in the verge of tears. Devon dialed Ivan's number.

"Hello," Ivan answered his phone. "Ivan, where are you? The ceremony is about to start," Devon said softly, but panic can be heard from her voice. "I'm at the airport," Ivan said calmly. "WHAT!? The airport!!??" Devon said. "Yes, the airport. I have business to attend in America," Ivan said. "What about the wedding?" Devon said. "Devon, you shouldn't lie to yourself. You love me, yes, but as a friend only. I've always knew that, I guess I was just too blind. You will always have a special place in my heart Devon. Remember, I'm your guardian. I want to see you happy. Let's stay as friends okay?" Ivan said. "Ivan...." Devon murmured. "Oh, and by the way, James is on his way there. I told him about this. Actually, you haven't noticed that on the invitations, instead of my name, James' name is written on it. I know you still love him, and the moron realized that he loves you. Get married to him. I want to see you in a happily ever after princess. I love you Devon. This is my final surprise for you. Thank you for everything my love," Ivan said. Devon is crying on the other line. "Don't thank me Ivan. I should thank you. For everything, really. And you, you would also always have a special place in my heart. I'm really sorry for all the trouble I've caused you. I love you, too Ivan, as a friend," Devon said. "Oh, and Devon, can you thank Kyra and Lauren for me? They made this plan work. Goodbye Devon, I'll see you soon,"  Ivan said. "Goodbye Ivan," Devon said, and they ended their call.

James arrived at the church. He saw Devon's bridal car. He knocked on the windows. Devon got out of the car. "James........." Devon murmured. James knelt on one knee. "Devon, I know I have made a mistake in the past. But I realized that I love you and I can't live without you. Devon, will you marry me again?" James asked. "I'm afraid to trust you. But my heart said I should. Yes James, I will marry you," Devon said. James stood up and hugged Devon. The people around them clapped and hooted. "If you ever hurt our bestfriend, we'll hunt you," Lauren and Kyra said. "I'm so happy for you guys!" Carina said. "Thank you Carina," James said. "I get to call you ate again!" Carina said to Devon, beaming. Devon hugged Carina. "Thank you for another chance," James said to Devon. Devon smiled. They proceed to the ceremony. And finally, it's a happily ever after.
