Chapter 16

"I've missed Australia," Devon murmured with a smile. "Me too," Ivan replied. "I can't wait to see Lo and Kyra!" Devon beamed. "They're on their way here," sabi ni Ivan. They're in Ivan's own home, a home he bought for him and Devon. It was near the beach because Devon fell in love with beaches. And whatever made Devon happy, made him happy too.

The doorbell rang, and Devon ran to the gate. "Lo! Kyra!" Devon screamed and hugged her friends. "Devon!" the two screamed at the same time. "We missed you Devs," Lauren whispered to Devon's ear. "I've missed you too, both of you," sabi ni Devon. The three started crying. "Pasok kayo," sabi ni Devon. Then she spotted Sam. "Hey," sabi nya kay Sam. "Devon," Sam said, and he hugged her. "Welcome back," sabi ni Sam. "I'm happy to be back."

Nakaupo sila Devon, Kyra at Lauren sa sala samantalang nasa balcony sina Sam at Ivan.  "Everything's so different without you bes," sabi ni Kyra. "Oo nga," pag-sangayon ni Lauren. Devon smiled. And she gasped when she saw a ring on Lauren's ring finger. Lauren saw where Devon's looking. "Oh yeah, me and Sam got engaged last night," Lauren informed them. "And you forgot to share this news to us!?" Kyra said. "When? Where? How!?" Devon fired questions to her friend. "Last night, at our old school's library. You know, we first met there. The fool rented the whole library. May pagkabaliw, but kinilig ako," sabi ni Lauren na namumula. "I'm so happy for you bes. At least, one of us found our happy ending now," sabi i Devon, tears welling up in her eyes. She hugged her friend. "Congrats bes," sabi ni Kyra, mangiyak-ngiyak din na niyakap si Lauren. "You two will be the maid of honors okay," sabi ni Lauren. "Thanks Lo," sabi ng dalawa.

Meanwhile, Ivan and Sam are also having a serious conversation in the balcony. "How is he?" Ivan asked, reffering to James. "He's devastated. Been keeping himself busy with work," sabi ni Sam. Ivan snorted. "He's devastated!? After what he did to her? If you just saw her before Sam.... there are no words to describe it. She's crying her heart out everytime. Been staring at nothing. She was like a robot," sabi ni Ivan, shuddering at the memory. "Well, you should see James too, Ivan. He was crying, something he don't usually do. He never goes out any more. And he got thinner, and his eyebags reaches his cheeks," Sam said, shaking his head. "Well... maybe I'll drop by his office tomorrow," Ivan said, his face unreadable.

The next day, Ivan stayed true to his words. After dropping Devon off to Lauren's house because their planning the wedding, he went straight to James' office.

"Sir, a Mr. Dorschner is here to see you," James' secretary said to him. James was surprised to hear that Ivan is visiting him. "Let him in," sabi ni James. Ivan entered. "James, it's been a long time...." Ivan said, his face bears no emotion. "Ivan..." James whispered. "How are you James?" Ivan asked James. "Miserabale, to say at the least," James replied, looking into Ivan's eyes. "Hmmph," Ivan snorted. "How about you Ivan?" James asked. "Hmm... much more miserable that you. Seeing that I have to watch Devon cry her heart out every day," Ivan said, glaring at James. "Well, I didn't went here to have chit-chat with you. I'm here to tell you to lose your hope of having Devon back. She's fine with you out of her life. I heard from Sam that you're still waiting for her. Remember what I said to you years ago? I said 'If I find her, I won't bring her back to you. I will keep her and heal her wounds'. Well, she finally did heal. And I don't want her to get hurt again. So please stay out of her life," with that said, Ivan left James' office.
